Re: Police investigate case of attempted murder after parking dispute
Those that were around several years ago might remember a similar incident in Melanos area, when a taxi driver shot and killed two of his neighbors over a parking spot argument, most Cypriots have access to firearms unfortunately...

Not sure this is totally correct maybe one of the forum will advise. I was told by a Cypriot nieghbour that after National service and they remained a Military Reservist they kept their fire arm this was so every household would have access to a weapon should there be a repeat invasion. There are hundreds of shotgun licenses issued annually and according to a small arms survey there are more firearms in Cyprus than some US States.
Re: Police investigate case of attempted murder after parking dispute
All Cypriot men, after doing national service, become reservists, they keep their rifle at home plus 200 rounds in a secure cupboard, they have to attend training several times a year unless medically unfit etc, this goes on until the age of 55 ( im not 100% sure re age) after that they become civil defense, were they get trained in fire fighting, showing people to shelters etc, I often see my neighbour suited and booted going off to training, as for hunters there are about 50,000 license holders, but many own more then one shotgun, add to that all the gun club members that have handguns at home, considering the amount of guns about, the amount of homicides a year, by guns is miniscule.bmwx5 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 9:06 am Not sure this is totally correct maybe one of the forum will advise. It's the hot blooded macho Mediterranean temperament ...
Re: Police investigate case of attempted murder after parking dispute
Sorry but that is just ''stereotyping'' nonsense, how many people have been murdered by being run down by a car, this year in Cyprus?
Re: Police investigate case of attempted murder after parking dispute
Yes, but unless the car driver had premeditated murder on his mind, presumably there was some sort of argument immediately before and with his temper rising he hoped to get the man to move out of the way so he could park there.
Just a possible scenario.
Just a possible scenario.
