Attending funeral in the U.K.

Post by Reesy »

It looks like I will need to go to the U.K. to attend a funeral
within the next couple of weeks. I would really like to fly in just for a few days. In and out really..Is this possible?

Yes, BA from Larnaca-Heathrow. Twice weekly.
But also bare in mind that at present you will need a neg PCR test 72hrs before leaving Cyprus.
In the UK you have to self isolate for 10 days, plus have 2 further tests after 2 and then 8 days. All tests have to be purchased before leaving Cyprus.

Yes, a friend of mine went back to the UK last Wednesday. She has to stay in self isolation for 10 days not 8! There is a £10,000 fine if you are caught violating this.

I believe there is special dispensation for people attending funerals
If you never ask the question, the answer will always be....no

The rules regarding funerals in UK were updated on 17 May with regards to numbers of attendees etc

This is the link to entering UK for a funeral from overseas:

Some family travelling to the UK yesterday with BA, saw several passengers denied boarding because they had not booked a second PCR test.

Apparently Border Control was very quick.

According to the rules. You can indeed attend a funeral but you must continue to isolate afterwards and then return. In short, no you cannot fly over, attend the funeral and fly back.
Ticking away, the moments that make up a dull day.
