Auf Wiedersehen BRIT!

Post by memory man »

Germany BANS Britons from midnight TOMORROW after branding UK a Covid variant hotspot... while Spain lifts restrictions to welcome tourists
People travelling to Germany from the UK can only get in if a citizen or resident

And spouses and children under 18 of a German citizen or resident can also enter
Those with urgent humanitarian reason such as family bereavement also allowed
Anyone entering the country from UK must quarantine for two weeks on arrival

Britons will soon be barred from entering Germany after the country's Public Health Institute designated the UK as a virus variant area of concern.

From midnight on Sunday people travelling there from the UK may only enter the country if they are a German citizen or resident.

Spouses and children under 18 of a German citizen or resident can also enter, as long as the household are travelling together.

Bollox! This is just sour grapes and bloody mindlessness on Germany’s behalf and UK’s cases are significantly lower than there!

Do you think that Spain, Portugal would risk going back into lockdown down just to let the Brits back in?

You can understand their concern. I do think however, that the Government are pushing the story of the variant to increase the uptake of vaccinations in the Asian community. On this mornings news. The slight rise in confirmed cases is due to the Kent variant. That may have been a Martin Bashir story mind you!

I’m certainly not racist. Merely pointing out that Germany is still acting like a spilt brat that cannot get its own way.

I agree that Boris should have stopped all travel from India sooner.

If Germany were concerned about the rise in cases there why haven’t they stopped travel from Belgium, Italy, Spain whom all have cases higher than theUK and are rising?!

Do they have the variants the UK has?

With regards to Boris Johnson, he will have been following the advice of his experts. Not every expert thinks that the Indian variant is quite the threat it is being made out to be. One thing BJ won't have done, is gone out on a limb on his own. That would require too much effort on his part.

Rubbish. They’re trying to keep another variant out as much as possible.

Seen from Cyprus which fortunately seems to do things regarding the pandemic very sensibly on the whole. I'm shocked by the blatant racialism of some of the remarks.
Although the Uk has left the EU, UK Brits are ill advised to make nasty remarks about European countries. Had Boris reacted sensibly as others have said, and stopped flights from India much sooner then he could have saved his country from hosting yet another mutant virus, which neither Germany or any other country wants to import.

When reflecting on why the majority of EU states are way behind the UK in vaccinating their populations, remember who was importing vast quantities of all available vaccines for much of last winter. Is it any surprise that most European countries are still trying to bring their own number of covid cases down using the available vaccine.

We’ll it all started by my light hearted jibe about the historical rivalry between The UK and Germany….but the woke brigade chose not to see it that way 🙄

Was it meant to be funny? If so it missed its mark.
