Architect / construction engineer recommendation

Post by jeba »

I´m being offered a plot near Paphos (Choletria) with an existing but derelict bungalow on it. Can someone recommend an architect or construction engineer to advise me on whether it makes sense to renovate or if it would be better to tear it down?

If you contact Agathi, which was my architect in the past and well known in Paphos as she was also the architect for the Paphos court house. I have no problem if you mention my name...

This may be some advice. When we bought a derelect bungalow in 2008 it had FULL title deeds. We thought great ( we thought wrong ) We spent an arm and a leg renovating and expanding it and all went well, until,,,, we found out that due to the structual alterations we had to apply for NEW title deeds.....It took us 10 years to get them....All,s well that ends well of course.

Jeba,
Choletria is a nice place to live. But hope that your bungalow isn't in the semi ruined old village which was once Choletria. We were told this area was abandoned following a bad earthquake, and the new village was built nearby, but higher up on better ground presumably.

Thanks, I read about that on Wikipedia. That earthquake was 50 years ago and the bungalow is only 17 years old, so I guess it will be in the safe area. But I'll certainly take it into consideration. Maybe I'll build a steelframed house so that earthquakes aren't a threat.
