Re: Argaka dam overflows
Interesting that nobody commented that topic. First, the photo is NOT showing Argaka dam, it could be Kouris dam...
Second, without proper rainfall in recent weeks it could be mysterious that the dam overflows for a sudden. Reality is that Argaka dam as well as Ayia Marina dam and also Pomos dam are interconnected with the Evretou dam through a very clever designed system. In winter when the small dams overflow, water is diverted to the larger Evretou dam and later in the year the other way round. This is achieved through a 52 km long pipe system and works with pure gravity. Great engineering in my opinion and it would have been nice if mentioned in the press article...

It's kind of traditional of them to use the wrong photo. At least it was wet.

The picture in the news article is definitely not Argaka dam. The photo that Max posted above is though.

Re: Argaka dam overflows
The picture was taken from the upper road, the bottom right of the photo is the overflow from behind. Your photo is taken from a different position. I live grew up in this area and visit the dam (before Covid) on a daily basis to walk!
Re: Argaka dam overflows
I think this problem re the picture is that some people are not 'opening up' the article in the very first post.
Therefore they are not seeing the 'Wrong' picture at all ..

As Trev says, you haven't read the article Max is referring to.
This is the picture we are talking about. I know that the other two pictures are of Argaka Dam, because I took them.
Now if you want to claim that that is the Argaka Dam, then go ahead and do so!
