Re: Vaccine rollout in Paphos will begin on Monday
I had the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine last Friday 18th December in Inverness at my work.
It really was mostly like getting any other vaccine. There was the tiniest (and I mean tiniest) little more nip than the normal flu vacciine but it looked liked slightly more liquid was going into my arm which could have accounted for that
.
My preference would have been to wait for the Oxford one but I made my choices. . . . . who knows?
That evening, I did feel like I may have been given a little punch on the upper arm . . .But next morning it was gone. Some of my colleagues did have the similar feeling of 'a slightly dead upper arm, to varying degrees' and a few others had a sickly feeling. However, I am happy to say NONE of those vaccinated had any other symptoms than those mentioned above. 200 of us got the jabby that day. Trust me, they have ALL been posting about anything and everything because we have all been slightly twitchy about going for it. Nae probs so far.
Having spoken to the Treatment Centre at my work. . . . .there have been NO reports of any adverse reactions. . . . And I know, before any of you start your bitching, 200 is a very small number.
Just reporting what ME, MYSELF, I, knows so far.

Re: Vaccine rollout in Paphos will begin on Monday
Nice positive news Maggie B
, not sure how long I will have to wait for mine but I will not turn down the opportunity.
Re: Vaccine rollout in Paphos will begin on Monday
If you want it, I hope you don't have to wait too long either.
I do believe our Authorities will be 'pulling out the stops.'
Edit to my previous post The Aquila.' The first 100 vaccines were carried out the week before I got mine. I received the 200th out of two hundred on the 18th. (ie, the second batch of 100). Just to be factual, I am to get my second dose on, or around 15th January, the first 100 will get theirs in the first week of January.
PS Just determined not to give you any naff information.

Daily Mail in Scotland reporting an accelerated programme, where everyone over 50 will be vaccinated by spring. I am a bit sceptical, as we have been let down on every other promise during this pandemic.

I believe in Cyprus we should be vaccinating the younger workers like hotel staff and other people in the tourist industry first so we we can get the country back on its feet. Us oldies can stay locked down for a while longer, to me personally it's no great hardship.

However it will be us oldies (not sure I count myself, aged 63, among them though) who will block ICUs.Jim B wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 6:13 pm I believe in Cyprus we should be vaccinating the younger workers like hotel staff and other people in the tourist industry first so we we can get the country back on its feet. In many ways it makes sense to vaccinate those who come into contact with other members of the public due to their occupations - then at least we can get workplaces, schools etc up and running sooner. The elderly and infirm people I know are already keeping away from crowds, wearing face mask etc as they appreciate they are more vulnerable.

Och behave yourself boy. . . . . . And be a positive Jock.
However, I honestly believe every Government, be it Cypriot, English, Italian, Greek, or whatevvs, including our own, are doing their best to get this horrible situation sorted. Everyone is scared about the consequences of Covid 19!!!
Even if each Government is a month or so behind, maybe even two . . . .so what? They will be trying their very best. . . .that's for sure. It's in their interests.
So. Hang on in there x and Happy New Year to you and Yours in a few days time.

That's what I mean, the Citizens Advice has been closed for nearly two weeks due to an outbreak amongst the staff as have many front line shops and offices. I just think people on the front line dealing with the public should be the first to be vaccinated, as you said the vast majority of the older generation are keeping a low profile.
It's just my thoughts on the situation.

I disagree. Since there isn´t enough vaccination capacity available yet I think they are right in vaccinating those who are most likely to be a burden on the healthcare system which is already at the brink of collapse (according to the health minister´s recent admittance). You must try to avoid running out of ICU beds as a priority. This will also benefit those who need hospital care for reasons other than covid. I´m saying that as someone who thinks the government´s handling in general is unsatisfactorily.Jim B wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 6:47 amGalexindagalexinda wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 9:06 pm In many ways it makes sense to vaccinate those who come into contact with other members of the public due to their occupations - then at least we can get workplaces, schools etc up and running sooner. Jena
As I said, it's just my opinion. At the end of the day the money pit isn't bottomless and the country needs to make money to pay for the healthcare system.

Re: Vaccine rollout in Paphos will begin on Monday
The government do indeed need to make money to pay for the healthcare system.. But bear in mind that they are making money because everyone is paying out of their wages or pension for it.. Also the average person pays more now for their prescribed medication the the 50cents an item in the past
