It could easily end in tragedy... (photos)

Post by cyprusmax47 »

What looked like one of the usual little bush fires in the area went very quick out of control and only thanks to the quick response of various fire planes the fight was won after 5 hours... bravo for the coordinated work.

how it started 1.30 PM in fields between Amargeti and old Pentalia.

not only helicopter but also the small yellow planes with chemicals started their fight

I know how terrifying from own experience in the past it is, when a large fire comes closer and closer to your property...
Image

old Pentalia surrounded from smoke and fire now, frightening !!

helicopter trying their best

but it seems to me that chemicals work better

and the fires looked smaller when suddenly very black clouds appeared...

something different must have happened at this place, I hope it was not a house on fire

Luckily after another 2 hours no more smoke and it looked OK now, just in time before dawn. The small planes were still in the air... checking until it was really too dark to fly.

This is NEW Pentalia .... NOT old Pentalia.
Old Pentalia was unaffected by this fire as it's located several kms away.

My picture no 6 shows exactly the moment when the plane dropped its chemicals to stop the fire at the cafe, next to the church....

This morning about six thirty when I got out of bed I could smell smoke. Went outside and the field above our house was well on fire. Fortunately the Fire Brigade were there and soon had it extinguished.
Looks like it was started by a discarded cigarette as the fire appears to have started from the road leading out of the village.
