Immigration

Post by sadie62 » Sun Nov 10, 2019 11:36 am

We are going to immigration tomorrow for our MEU3, but we are unsure of the opening times. Although it states 8.30 am to 3 pm on their website I have heard many say they got there for 7 am, plus Our appointment states arrival time of 7.30 to 10.00 am
For those of you who have been recently, What is the state of play currently, what sort of waiting time can we expect (no agent, doing it ourselves),
I was just wondering if I leave hubby sat there waiting, will I have time to pop to Paps for my shopping and not miss my turn??

It opens at 7.30a.m. People start arriving at 7a.m. in order to get in fairly quickly, when you arrive there is a reception on the left hand side. Go there with your appt paper and they will give you a numbered ticket. Our appt was 10- 12 and we arrived at 10.20. It was packed. We had number 44 and 19 was only just going in.The problem was all the "fixers" going in with handfuls of paperwork without appointments. One lady had been there since 7.30 and was seen at 11a.m. We were there 4 hours. Once in, we were 5 minutes! Take some water, it gets hot in there! The good news was, we had our MEU3 exactly 2 weeks later in the post!

Get there for 6am (take a flask or water). You'll have a 90min wait but you'll be first in and out by 8am. Or get there after 6.45 and expect a wait of around 2-4 hours.

Well I don’t know about MEU3 arriving in two weeks, we have been waiting 7 months, when we enquired about the delay we were told could be several more months.

So if you arrive at 6am, where do you wait if they do not open until 7.30am and once the doors open do people behind you race to get a number before those who have been there before them.....or is it orderly, tickets taken in order of arrival?
Are people who have an appointment seen before those who do not

Outside if the building isn’t open.. You will see a queue.or pay someone to help you and make it easier.
I chose the latter.

Your choice entirely but not mine, it is something i feel I can do myself - but a good service for those who feel they need help !

We applied for MEU3 5th September 2018 still waiting for it. Sent emails to Nicosia immigration and made phone calls no reply to both. So good luck and well done to those who have received them.
We have paid someone to get our IPT tax that was over a year ago, still not got it, so paying someone is not always the answer.

Well, I did use a well known agent to help me and it paid off when after 9 months my MEU3 still hadn’t arrived. They found out that although it had apparently been issued and posted, when it still hadn’t come, they were able to arrange for me to get duplicate one. For this one of the agents staff dealt with the Paphos Immigration Office as well as the head office in Nicosia. To take delivery she accompanied me to immigration (Paphos) and then to the Law Courts where I signed for, and rec’d the duly stamped and certified copy of my missing original MEU3. Incidentally my missing original copy must have got lost somewhere in the postal system as it never arrived.
I couldn’t have done that on my own!

I have decided to go to Nicosia Immigration Office to sort out my particular query (incorrect information on my record which affects my access to some GESY services).

Tremigirl - Yes I think you're right. One friend of ours went via an agent for her MEU3 beginning of August and still does not have her MEU3, however another friend applied by themselves mid October and MEU3 arrived beginning of November, so agents are not in control of processing time.
We went this morning at 6.10 (advised by a member of this forum). We were the only ones until 6.35. By the time they opened the doors at 7.30 there was around 45 people - we were No 1, was out by 8.30. The reception said there were 70 appointments for that day

We went on 17th Oct having made an appointment in August
We were waiting for 3.5 hrs but as we had ALL the documents requested we were in and out once inside the inner sanctum
We just received our MEU3 today!
No agents, we did it all ourselves all it cost was our time 😊
If you never ask the question, the answer will always be....no

Although they opened the doors at 7.30 we were not called in until 7.50 (we were no 1), and was around 10 minutes but we were then waiting for our photos to be taken as there was a family of 5 who had come in for their photo and fingerprints, otherwise we would have been out by just after 8am.
No agents for us too, the same with IPT refund we did this ourselves too and no agent would have got us a higher refund than we got ourselves (we got exactly what we calculated was due). I just think some people believe it is more complicated than it actually is.....however those happy to pay for someone to help them......fine !!

Can I ask, on what grounds can you get an IPT refund?
This is all news to me .......

daveg - When you get your Title Deeds you are allowed to apply to the Inland Revenue for a refund of the 'legitimate' IPT you paid to your developer, who will have been paying IPT on your behalf. When I say legitimate if you have paid more IPT to the developer than you should have (as is often the case) you will only be refunded the legitimate amount
