Sourdough Bread anywhere?
Sourdough Bread anywhere?
I was wondering if any of you have seen any sourdough bread?
I've heard that Alpha Mega sell it, and I will give that a try, although bread from supermarkets can be a bit, well, bland . If anybody had seen any elsewhere, I'd be grateful to hear of it. Have freezer, will travel

If you ask in the shops for "prozymi"( Greek word for it) you will find it. Perhaps Butcher Boy! or next doorBograt wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2017 11:09 am I was wondering if any of you have seen any sourdough bread?

What a kind offer! I'm not over for another couple of weeks though, so please do not wait for me to tip up. If you get a knack for it, I will certainly ask for the recipe if that is ok.
Re: Sourdough Bread anywhere?
Thank you Max, that is very helpful. I will add that word to my list of useful things, and try it when I'm there soon. Hopefully my pronunciation will be understandable - "Pro-ZEE-me" do you think??cyprusmax47 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2017 11:47 amIf you ask in the shops for "prozymi"( Greek word for it) you will find it. Re: Sourdough Bread anywhere?
Just a thought here, but have any small specialized Polish Delis sprang up in Paphos, to cater for the tastes of the Polish expat working community there?
If so, you're certain to find fresh-baked white and brown Polish sourdough bread in there. Not to mention beautiful ham, gammon, and bacon (that isn't pumped full of water), gorgeous bread rolls and cakes, etc...
All at really great value prices, too

The small artisan bakery is called Artognosia and is in the side road by New York Sweets. They most certainly make sour dough bread (bread with prozymi) but don't have it all the time. They will happily make it for you however if you ask.

I should also perhaps mention that they make Spelt (Dinkelbrot) bread too.
Re: Sourdough Bread anywhere?
Thank you. I've found it on Google maps and will give it a try, probably visiting New York Sweets for the first time as well (oink snort).Ancient History wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2017 6:11 am The small artisan bakery is called Artognosia and is in the side road by New York Sweets.
