Curious Games of Chess

Post by Paulo »

I'm so glad to see that Dominic has kept this topic inline on this forum.
On another Paphos forum it has turned into a real witch hunt against anybody who has ever been in business, befriended or worked for the convicted.
What's more shocking is that the witch hunt seems to be instigated by the forum owner. When I pointed out the hypocrisy (as the forum owner used to employ an entertainer in his bar even though he was convicted of downloading child porn) my account was suspended and my post removed.

Paphoslife is one of the few forums where the owner hasn't let the perceived power go to his head but still manages to keep the members in order, keep up the good work!

If you ignore the many users I understand were barred and are now on the other forum!
However, maybe that was necessary, and I agree this forum is well organised/run.

Nobody is saying that members shouldn't get banned if they step out of line and start a witch hunt, you only have to look at the other forum to see what happens otherwise.
I don't believe that anybody has been banned from this site just because they didn't agree with Dominics opinions or because he was on a power trip?

Where on Earth did you hear about mass bannings? Somebody has been telling you porkies.

I have banned two posters since this forum opened, excluding spam accounts. Both those people were banned several months ago.

My message from the site owner just said <<keep it up and you will be gone , last warning>>

I note that since the Sunshine/Beech threads have been told to 'calm down', that forum has gone very quiet again!

It is strange how they can delete some posting on that site. But in the last couple of days a member asked to leave and have her posts deleted. She was deleted, but the owner said that the posts had to stay or the thread would not make sense.. :-(

I'm going to split this topic, so the recent posts are separate from the original article. I don't mind your discussion continuing, but it is fairer that it bubbles along in it's own thread.

There was no warning for me just locked out of my account, my post was deleted and so were any others responding to it. This was at the same time that it was being declared they couldn't and wouldn't delete posts on another thread, they refused to do this as it would have been like 'Jim'.

I think you'll find the sunshine radio thread has gone so quiet because every post between midnight on Thursday and midnight last night has been deleted.

I agree with HIC that it's not worth posting on the other forum and I hadn't done so myself for quite a while, but I couldn't stop myself after reading the hypocrisy being spouted.
At least that option has been taken out of my hands in the future.

From one of our neighbours at our local bar. He said it was the other Paphos forum, not PP. I see in one post mention of PL forum, before we arrived here I think, maybe was that one? Anyway Dominic apologies to you if it was. Like I said in my earlier post I like this forum and you run it well.

Well all I can say is that it wasn't this forum. I would ask now that people don't talk about forums that no longer exist, as it has all been said before and only ever results in threads ending up in the pit. :)

Not sure if my posts still exist on PP in relation to the one topic which I found totally unsavoury and that had been turned into a witch hunt by the forum owner.... Many members told him he was wrong and to let it go, but he insisted on having more digs at the man who tried to explain why certain things couldn't be changed at that particular time.
Apparently, he was guilty purely by association as a business partner and possibly a friend.
That was it for me and I asked to be removed and my posts deleted. My comment was passed to the owner as I sent it by PM to the moderator as I had no wish to get into conversation with Neil himself as I was disappointed and disgusted with his attitude.
My request was ignored into a second day so I posted it openly on the forum.
I wanted all of my posts to be removed or if not to allow me to amend my signature to avoid any association to myself. This would have left my posts behind but no link back to me....
He chose not to do that but closed my account.
He deleted comments from other people.... So, there's no consistency there. It seems his decision is made depending upon how much you piss him off.

I can't help but think that we shouldn't be discussing other forums here. They are as they are, and join them or don't. Things could descend into a witch-hunt here as well, so lets keep the moral high ground.

I think people sometimes need to get something off there chest when their accounts are closed and their voice is taken away from them in the relevant forum, almost like a form of closure.
As long as it doesn't turn into a witch hunt (I'm sure Dominic wouldn't allow that) then I think a bit of whinging and moaning about being treated badly is fine and pretty harmless.

Normally I don't allow inter-forum discussions to continue, but I have allowed this one because, quite frankly, the other place was just completely out of line. Any attempt to turn this thread into a witch hunt will be swiftly dealt with, but if people aren't allowed to put their counterpoint to "the party line" there, I am happy for them to do so here.
