Thalassa Hotel

Post by Dominic »

Thalassa Hotel in Coral Bay closed around December 2019 for a refurbishment. It hasn't opened since, though there have been numerous rumours about its fate. The other week I was in the area so decided to give it a closer look. Let me take you on a tour...

I visited the hotel a couple of years after it was opened then a Leptos Hotel, the restaurant was a fish restaurant and had a good reputation and then it closed. The hotel’s suites were very strange as they had 2 doors onto the corridor, the impression I felt that the hotel originally was a 4 star and someone had a vision to turn into in an Adults Only Boutique Hotel and knocked through the wall to make a suite, I was totally underwhelmed compared at the time to the Elysuim
I understand that the hotel changed hands to another group and they could have done a renovation to the suites

I saw it when it opened, and it looked very luxurious then. It also had a beautiful spa in the basement. But, it was very expensive, advertising 'butler service' to hotel guests in the suites.
Sadly, it never seemed to take off. Leptos extended its successful Coral Beach Hotel, next to it, built a huge new wing and an Olympic' sized swimming pool.
