Old Town 2022 Update - Part 1

Post by Dominic »

Paphos is changing! Don't take our word for it though. Take a walk with us around Old Town, and see what's going on. In the first part we concentrate on the area around the Indoor Market, which is undergoing something of a face lift.

Thank you for sharing. I love walking around the Old Town and stopping for a frappe. Looking forward to doing it again in two weeks.

Great blog - lovely to see Paphos Old Town restoration looking fabulous I can’t get my head around the indoor market without its roof, in bygone year the market sold fruit veg and meat it’s was a hub of activity with the Taverna owners with their produce to take back and prepare for the evening ahead, it even had a Porter can’t remember his name

I love walking around the old town. Always something new to see, and so much better than the touristy sea front.
I understand that there will be a new market roof put in place as part of the upgrade. Also, the fruit and veg market is now in its own building in the car park next to the new lift. The old town comes alive in the evening with packed cafes. Great fun.

Much of the old town is looking very nice and colourful. The young trees have grown very quickly, But I shall withold judgement until the market area is finished. At present I find its entrances now completely different, utterly confusing. Not sure where I am with all the familiar landnarks obliterated. My favourite hand bag shop that used to be at one of the entrances seems to have disappeared... I hope it will reappear...
