Maybe the latest edict hasn’t got through to the places I’ve contacted and gone to today.
Had bloods taken at a laboratory
Rang rheumatologist practice about appointment on Friday and it’s still ok to go
If you never ask the question, the answer will always be....no

But are they taking 'In Patients' to have operations under general anaesthetic that means them staying in a 'private' hospital for a number of days.
Someone I know had an operation booked in a couple of weeks time but has not been contacted

Despite the fact that so far the indications regarding the number of beds in the Intensive Care Units of public hospitals is good, the number of COVID-19 patients admitted every day remains high and as a result the situation is marginal.

The spokesman of the State Health Services Organization said that beds must be found both in the public and the private sector, adding that the organization has increased its efforts for cooperation with private clinics.

Moreover, the Health Minister yesterday stressed that the problem mainly focuses on the lack of human resources, warning that if the number of confirmed cases increases, it is only a matter of time before the Health System reaches its limits.

Following on from my original post about my wife’s cancelled cataract procedure, she had a telephone call from her ophthalmologist yesterday telling her that this would now take place on Monday 26th April at St George’s Hospital in Paphos.

From various comments/articles I have seen:

Since inpatient treatment was included through GESY it appears there is a quota for the number of operations undertaken each month, further defined by the type eg orthopaedic would be one subsection.
My view is that The Health Insurance Organisation (GESY) is trying to ensure only necessary treatments are carried out, as it does with the issuing with prescriptions, diagnostic tests, etc.

I also understand the recent temporary stoppage of operations was due to the increasing number of people requiring or potentially requiring specialised Covid inpatient care.

When working for the NHS the financial year started in April and there nearly always used to be a cut back in services provided in the weeks beforehand. Problem was that if a NHS Trust managed to keep within the budget by doing this then it missed out on any increase the following year!
