360 Panoramas from Mars!

Post by Dominic » Tue Feb 23, 2021 1:54 pm

Here's a tour which I didn't make myself. There was no way I could get there and back in the allotted three hours...

Yes it is weird. I was looking at them and got excited about the Mars landing for the first time.

Brilliant pics. I am totally excited by this. We are the first generation to be able to see close-up pics of other planets and moons in our solar system.

And not a hotel in sight. Yet

Aquila.... I had an exchange of emails with my old Dad some months ago where he described the changes in his life since he was born in 1931. As a boy he recalled planes had 2 wings and a prop and he listened to a stupid show called Flash Gordon on the radio about spaceships going to planets in the years before he was a teenager.

By the time he was 14 yrs there was only one wing and no prop on a plane. Over the next decade people went on holiday to the USA in a day and by the end of the sixties a man actually travelled to the moon so Flash Gordon was not so daft.

He thinks we have slowed down over the last 30 or 40 years but he mentioned he bought a colour TV from Radio Rentals that was tiny and on tick, whereas he now has one in his back pocket. So why can't a child born tomorrow buy a big Mac on Mars....just a thought..

Interesting story about the graphics on the parachute:

https://news.yahoo.com/mars-rovers-gian ... 36340.html

When I first saw the parachute my interest was piqued by the graphic design. It seems there is a message hidden therein. Check the link.

Did you know the parachute was made by a company in Devon/Cornwall, who used to make parachutes in WW11?
