Gerovasa

Post by Dominic »

Gerovasa is an abandoned village nestled in the far reaches of the Diarizos Valley. At first glance it isn't very substantial. From the road, only a few ruins are visible. But if you take a walk through the trees you will see that there used to be quite a sizeable neighbourhood here. Just make sure you visit at the right time of year...

I wondered about that myself. Normally some effort is made to preserve mosques. And given that they village obviously had a school I would expect there to be a mosque somewhere in the ruins. Mind you, there had been some particularly nasty inter-communal violence, so perhaps it is one of the buildings reduced to rubble? I shall have a look on one of the old maps. They may have a mosque marked.
