Cyprus makes early repayment of IMF loan, saving €13.4 million

The Republic of Cyprus fully repaid on Thursday an International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan granted to the country in the period 2013-2016.According to a written statement from the Ministry of Finance, the total repayment amounted to €716.67 million (569, 63 m SDR)....

Oh good, now maybe the government will remember that they increased VAT to its current 19% as a temporary measure during the financial problems period ...

Not so much optimism, Lloyd, more a tongue in cheek comment. Anybody with a grain of realism knows that once a government has got used to receiving and spending the revenue generated by "temporary'" taxes, the word "temporary" becomes forgotten. 🙄🙁
