Re: Eastern site
Steve is hoping it will be back soon. Technical problems. However, they do have a facebook page.

Unfortunately we've been having problems with the server that has resulted in our site being offline for the last few hours. We had hoped to have been back up by now but the problem is at the datacentre - we are working with the network guys to get this resolved. Apologies for any inconvenience caused

Re: Eastern site
Apologies for the continued downtime - had hoped it would be resolved by now and unbelievably frustrating!
There is apparently a problem with some hardware that our server connects to at the datacentre and this is
what is being worked on. Once that's fixed then we can get access to the server and restart it.
My feeling is that they aren't going to get this back up and running until Monday morning - though they
haven't said this directly. Whilst we've been with the same hosting company for twenty years (though it
did get bought by a larger one) this is not the level of service we expect or are guaranteed.
Anyway apologies again and thanks Dominic for allowing us to update.
Cheers

No worries Steve. We had similar issues a while ago so I feel your pain.

Hello Steve, sorry about your problems, as you know all forums get this from time to time, certainly we did on CL, usually the Server sorts things out, good luck.

Re: Eastern site
Thanks for your comments - Devil, Jim & Dominic
So basically the latest information that I am getting is that our server crashed - not helpful and unusual as it hadn't needed
a reboot in three years but not that much of an issue in normal circumstances.
The hosts detected it and tried to restart the server but there was a problem with hardware that connects with
the server meaning that it wasn't able to restart it. So after trying to fix that they (eventually) moved it to another
part of the network - but that did not work either as it couldn't/wouldn't recognise our disk.
So at present they are currently migrating all the data from our server to a new one that is already on the
network - but due to the size that is taking longer than expected. They hope to have it back today (and probably would
be able to if they worked hours like we do when there is an issue) but can't guarantee it as yet.
They have confirmed that all the data is safe on the server so that's a bit of a relief as no one wants to go
to backups across several sites.
None of the above has been helped by - the weekend, the platform developer currently being on holiday, trying things
that didn't work as they should have and poor communication.
I can tell you I have been doing some long walks to try and get the blood pressure down
Cheers

Re: Eastern site
Thanks for the update, Steve. I was getting worried that you had been attacked by ransomware; glad to see I was up the pole.
Re: Eastern site
Be careful if they change your IP address when they set the new server up. DNS replication is quite slow at the moment.
