Am confused as to the time as to when an issued prescription is" live"...
I understand you have only a certain amount of time that you can use the prescription ,also there is a certain amount of time when you can get the next months supply BEFORE the due date....if that makes sense!
Clear definition please!
GESY Prescription
Re: GESY Prescription
My wife went to get our monthly prescriptions on the last day of August, and the pharmacist told her, its a good job, you came today, as once the months gone, you will not get the previous months prescription.
Re: GESY Prescription
Went to my local pharmacy on the 2nd of September to collect my August prescription [away in the uk for August], no problem supplied as normal.

I don't think the word Month is a calendar month.. But it is one month from when the prescription was made out..
My understanding is that you have week from the writing of the prescription to get it at a Pharmacy..
You can then go back to the Pharmacy a month after the prescription was made and get the second months supply..
You can go a week early... or a week late... But if you go earlier than that the prescription may not be 'live'.. If you go later than a week after the date, then the prescription may have 'timed out'
This is a generalisation... as I have been 8 days from the due date and got the prescription ..

That would make sense Trev, I will get my wife to clarify it next time she visits the pharmacy.trevnhil wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 2:06 pm I don't think the word Month is a calendar month.. But it is one month from when the prescription was made out..

Re: GESY Prescription
Thanks for this info, I have a three months prescription and didn’t realize I had to present it by a certain time each month so I’ve probably missed my second prescription but will see if Pharmacy will still let me have it, not a big deal for me as it’s just an inhaler which lasts me virtually 2 months anyway.
Re: GESY Prescription
Took my 3-month prescription to the pharmacy at Iasis Hospital yesterday and was told that I should collect my next month's supply after 20 days and before 40 days.
Re: GESY Prescription
[We missed MOH, first prescription because we weren't told there was a time limit. Our chemist told us 10 days from issue and a few days before reissue of the next one. We have to go cap in hand to Dr for another month because the medication runs out a few days before the next visit to the specialist. They ought to inform at the time of issue how long you have to present it. Everyone seems to be told something different.

Re: GESY Prescription
Just back from the Pharmacy and yes I’ve missed out on a months prescription. As I said before doesn’t matter hugely for me as my inhaler lasts for nearly 2 months anyway, but for those on more serious medication ...
Thanks to the opening post for pointing this out!
