Re: Mobile phone questions
I had my phone bought via ebay and simply asked a guy in a computer repair shop to make my new phone behave like my old one. Of course, there was a small fee (10 or 20 Euros, can´t remember) but I never had a problem since.

Not yet, application for building permit received though.
Should have read: "building permit received", of course. Earthwork has started.

Re: Prostate Problems
One alternative which hasn't been mentioned yet is embolisation. You might want to ask your urologist whether that's something to consider. The principle of the procedure is that a catheter is inserted into the femoral artery and pushed forward (under x-ray control) into the artery which supplies bl...

Re: MEU2 visa
What is concerning some people that have dependents with MEU1 visas and fulfil the pre-Brexit rights but live with their parents out here full time is that they don't have the necessary proof of five years of residency, (electricity bills,) to obtain the Laminated card required by July 2026. Does t...

Re: MEU2 visa
If I understand it correctly, this applies to Union citizens (which is puzzling as these don'tget residence cards, for all I know). Is your wife a EU- citizen?

Re: British husband to face murder charges after all
Prosecution attorney Andreas Hadjikyrou cast doubt on whether the killing had been agreed upon, saying that while Hunter may have killed his wife out of pity, that does not mean she had consented to it. The justification was that there was no physical or verbal proof of the agreement, either by way...

Re: 6th covid vaccination
They say it's a good idea to have a mixture of different vaccines, don't ask me why Because not all spike proteins are created equal and presenting different antigens to the immune system broadens the immune response. However, I don't think this matters anymore, given that the currently available b...

Re: British husband to face murder charges after all
When my mother was terminally ill we had to leave Cyprus for Germany to have the legal option of assisted suicide. However, I managed to convince the hospital to keep her under anesthesia for her last weeks (with her consent, of course). That way I didn't have to help her administer any lethal drugs...

Re: Going rate for domestic cleaner
Just a comment on pay rates: If the person has to pay SI themselves - 10 euros is fair. I know a number of people who pay SI themselves, as their employers are tight and let them go to work outside. They pay the SI each month not the legal employer. If the employer covers the SI and the amount is n...

My daughter is being paid €6/hour for looking after sick animals, including cleaning their cages, litter trays etc. Just saying.

Why are you bound by legislation to pay her a pittance? What's stopping you to pay her more? That aside, would it be any better if you were forced to go to a nursing home while she stayed in the Punjab? That's what the German Labour Court seems to think when it ruled that domestic workers/caregiver...

Re: Paying by card.
Interesting that this is law as I've come across consultants in private hospitals who still ask for cash payment in their offices. Also various smaller shops who give excuses for not having a machine. Apparently, they are quite expensive for the shop keeper to have as one told me of various fees an...

I don't understand the question. Nerve blocks are injections of (local) anesthetics next to a nerve.

So back to my question: what could be done to make the grid more resilient in the absence of natgas fueled power stations?

Re: Grid flexibility in Cyprus is critical for RES uptake
Prithee, where do you find LNG in Cyprus? That´s why I had asked how you can increase the resilience of the grid in the absence of it. Secondly, I have never heard of a car using LNG at -162° C. Until 3 years ago I had a natural gas-fueled (mixture of propane and butane) car in Germany (was great b...

Re: Grid flexibility in Cyprus is critical for RES uptake
It takes at least 30 minutes to start and adjust a gas-fired power station and bring it onto line. The only way to reduce this time would be to have one or two systems running idly but spewing forth oodles of carbon dioxide! That may be true for those using turbines, but I was under the impression ...

Re: Grid flexibility in Cyprus is critical for RES uptake
How to increase resilience to spikes in renewable production at a reasonable cost if you don't have gas-fired power stations the output of which can be adjusted almost instantaneously?
