Re: EU auditors to examine desertification risk in Cyprus
I was in Cyprus in 1961 and it was most certainly more green and fertile. With the vast increase in housebuilding, they have neglected to replant more olive trees which used to be in such abundance. In the west we do have at least the Akamas Forest but they are after that as well now.

Re: Trump's State of the Union Speech
The EU will have taken note of Trump's reference to his forth coming free and reciprocal trading arrangements which means the EU's Single and very protective Market has to be liberalized to trade with the USA. This will entail a Treaty Change which many of the existing 28 countries of the EU will no...

Re: Incident at Paphos Hospital
My guess is that he had been making subversive remarks like, "Getting out of the EU is like pulling teeth."

Re: Cyprus to tap an additional €81m in EU funds
Would be wonderful if it was just to boost the economy but we know it isn't its pure political bribery to keep the Cyprus elite on side. I was asked when over in the UK recently, "Why is Cyprus is the only EU country that doesn't appear to have an anti-EU party such as UKIP?" I answered bu...

Re: Cyprus to tap an additional €81m in EU funds
Now you know why the Speaker of the EU Parliament was here the other day dispensing funds to keep some heads of EU countries true to the faith. Think it will be the usual "take the EU's money but do as we want."

Re: Good News on Brexit
John Redwood MP has stated: Everyone needs to remember that this agreement is not the Agreement on the UK leaving the EU. It is an agreement to talk about all matters, and is still governed by the crucial principle that nothing is agreed until everything is agreed.

Re: UK court to hear Eoka lawsuit next week
There is the other view many Cypriots, Greek and Turkish held that Cyprus could become the economic hub of the Eastern Med as indeed Gibraltar is now on the Western end. What a lost opportunity. For Cyprus in the early 1960's, like the present EU, went the wrong way.

Re: UK court to hear Eoka lawsuit next week
This probably is the third time former EOKA members or the families of EOKA members have tried to obtain money from the British Government. They will probably be shown the same evidence that previous claimants were shown. The cases were then suddenly dropped. It was the same evidence originally show...

Re: Cotton Traders
You can also order some Cotton Trader items through Amazon which are then delivered by Royal Mail to your local Post Office. For me it saves a trip into Paphos which is a mess at the moment.

Going a bit Mutton Jeff these days, well, been married 54 years. Are hearing aids cheaper to buy in Cyprus than the UK?
Thanks. Psst! don't tell the wife.
