Re: Air Conditioner problem

Wooooooooo!! One of my suggestions (blocked outside drain pipe) was spot on, then!

My deepest sympathies to you, Alan...

Exactly a year and a day since my darling Georgina passed away, but the grief never goes away.

Re: Air Conditioner problem

The drain pipe could be blocked inside the bottom of the indoor fan/evaporator unit, (simple access cover), OR where it vents / empties to outside (spiders nest or similar inside the pipe)

Chantara could almost be Greek for 'Enchanted', because enchanting your latest blog photos certainly are, Dom!

That's one beautiful neck of the woods you've found there... Thanks for sharing!

Re: Caritas

In the case of UK Charity Shops, the net figures are understandable. Whilst staffing is probably 100% voluntary, they still have to pay their eye-wateringly high Business Rates, Gas and Electric bills for heating and lighting, not to mention Insurance and Council trade waste disposal. The ones that ...

Re: Some shoppers suspicious over plastic bag charge

I was pointing out that CyGov will be making a windfall of nearly 1c in VAT on every plastic bag sold. Will that go into central Gov coffers, or be fairly distributed to communal good causes (inc human and animal charities)?

Re: Some shoppers suspicious over plastic bag charge

In UK, it's always been a flat 5p charge, with most of it going to customer-nominated local community good causes. It works well, with many people still happy to pay 5p per bag, if they need to. As to the supermarkets, they don't care whose bags you use to pack. On the other hand, Cyprus, being Cypr...

Re: Missing soccer team found alive in cave....(AP)

Thanks for finding and sharing the Norwegian cave rescue link, Jim. Absolutely mind-boggling stuff... Meanwhile, my thoughts are with these 12 kids and their older coach trapped in a water-laden cave deep under Thailand for what might be 4 months more... They might have 4 months of food supplies bei...

Re: Raised footpath, Monorail..

I don't think it was ever gonna be a monorail, Trev, despite maybe looking like one under construction... A high level walkway is what it is, if they can ever finish it, that is... A terrible shame if they don't, after all the money poured into Paphos over the last couple of years. Left as it is, it...

Re: Konia Island

Yes- many years ago, the newly constructed wooden log coastal footpath bridge crossing the Limnaria exit to the coast by the the Alexander the Great hotel was demolished by the force of water coming down... I've often wondered why they don't trap and preserve this rich seasonal source of fresh water...

Re: The News Section

Different end result to what I expected, Dom..

I thought that the "Paphos News" section was being moved into "General", still containing it's sub news items. But the sub-items themselves have been diverted to General, as standalone topics.

A bit messy, IMHO... AL :?

Re: Alloy wheel polishers/restorers

Just a thought, Lloyd, but why not try asking Simon at Deals on Wheels? In his trade, I would have thought this would be the type of service he would use fairly often.

Might only be available in Limmasol or Nicosia, though...

Re: Alloy wheel polishers/restorers

According to Ian (Cheshire Lad) post on PL last October, Costa pointed him to the paint shop next door to Simon Emery's service centre by the time out kiosk. And he was well happy with the quote (about €50 a corner). I see this operation carried out regularly on "Wheeler Dealers" (Discover...

With the amazing two sets of wings that Mother Nature gave them, the dragonfly's ability to hover has always amazed me.. Such beautiful, harmless and colouful creatures!

They always remind me of a twin rotor Sykorsky helicopter, somehow..

Re: Rhubarb and Ginger Gin

Drifting ever-so slightly off topic, with all that wonderful fresh fruit cheaply available in Cyprus, why not consider distilling some Hungarian-style fruit brandy, (pálinka)? Similar to Zivania, but smoother and not as rough... Plum Brandy - Szilva Pálinka Cherry Brandy - Cseresznye Pálinka Apricot...
