However, I note the FX rate on the day my pension is paid and that averaged 1.2139 over the 12 months.

Any bank, institution or government which sought to deny people access to their cash would soon find retaliatory action being taken against them. One way to force plastic card use would be to severely restrict the flow of cash. €10 a day from ATM & in the bank. Problem solved!

Zipped suitcases can be opened very simply with a ballpoint pen! I saw a video of that, scary! I use a combo lock which fixes tabs so they cannot be moved. I don't place valuables in my checked in luggage though, always in carry on. Jimgym, if the tabs weren't locked why would you then need a ballp...
