Re: Reservoir storage

The recent pleasant weather is welcomed by us all. However, apart from snow melt, which will add to reservoir storage, there is little rain forecast for the next 10 days. Despite healthy inflow so far in January , the reservoirs are still short of last years levels, bearing in mind that last years ...

Re: Drink Driving .

As an aside, my friend swears that the policeman didn't even point the camera at his car before stopping him - the camera had 63 on the screen and of course he had no choice but to pay up ... Uuum, not necessarily so. A friend of mine was stopped on the motorway on her way back from Nicosia. She re...

Re: We have a meeting with Immigration......

Keith If you're coming from up in these hilly parts, directions to Immigration are: Drive down the hill, down Mesoghi Avenue/Polis Road past Carrefour, past Costas Tyres and Garden of Eden. When you get to the traffic lights with Papantoniou's Supermarket on your RHS, turn left. Follow this road and...

Re: We have a meeting with Immigration......

David, most (if not all) stationery shops sell photocopies, as perhaps will your local community office - if Skoulli has one, that is, and it's not the muktar's wife's kitchen table where the paperwork is done!

Re: Missheard Music Lyrics

To be honest (and fair to my friend, who had a convent school upbringing!), she did the mis-hearing in a noisy disco - remember those, the precursors of clubs? :D

A friend of mine was adamant that the lyrics to "Venus" (Shocking Blue) were extremely rude - she misheard "I'm your Venus" as "I'm your" ... something that rhymes with Venus!

Re: Ebac 2650e dehumidifer

Try Premier Electrical (used to be the Outlet Store) - top of Mesoghi Avenue, just on the Tremithousa/Mesoghi traffic lights. Maybe not the cheapest store in town, but they are very helpful there, and they do appear to honour the guarantee.....

OH doesn't need a sat nav because he says: I have a little Satnav, it sits there in my car A Satnav is a driver's friend, it tells you where you are. I have a little Satnav, I've had it most of my life It does more than the normal one, my Satnav is my wife. It gives me full instructions on exactly h...

Re: We have a meeting with Immigration......

Unless the system has changed dramatically from when we did it just over 8 years ago, both of you need to attend immigration with your passports in order to make the appointment - don't know why, but then hey ho, this is Cyprus and things get done the Cypriot way! With the date of your appoint...

Re: Forum Upgrade

Could be worse - a year or 2 ago, Bank of Cyprus upgraded and rolled out a new computer system - which crashed, meaning no banking of anything other than cash for 2 weeks while they sorted it out. You'd have thought they'd have run the two systems simultaneously for a while just in case ....

Re: Superstitious?

Well it was Thursday 13th some years ago when somebody drove a hire car into the side of our car... and then tried to blame us for the accident - they were the ones coming out of a parking lot  but because we then had a "performance" car, they tried to lay the blame on us. We'd not ...

We bought a couple of cherry stone cushions some years ago - they're really good, hold the heat a long time, and when the dreaded whatever beetle got into the one lavender cushion I'd bought, it ignored the cherry stone cushions.

I must admit that the ladies on the fruit & veg stall used to look somewhat askance at me when I asked for the exact weight, explaining it's for a chocolate cake (I don't know the Greek for Brownies! :D ). I've since printed out and taken the recipe to them.
