Re: Amazon UK

It's always worth looking at Amazon.com (the US site) as some sellers will send here and invariably some goods are a lot cheaper to begin with and no vat at source. Last month I ordered some small electrical items amounting to $15, the shipping was $15 and an import/duty fee of $5. Items arrived aft...

Re: Amazon uk or Amazon DE

You couldn't imagine for one moment the UK leaving the EU a few years ago but stupidity happens. When ordering from Amazon DE you're not informed of the originating country and whilst as you say their software should show up potential import fees it's best to check before you hit the pay now button....

Yes they do Trev, if that's where the ordered goods are stored. Also you would need to check the sellers location as some marketplace sellers on Amazon DE are UK based.

Re: Amazon uk or Amazon DE

Doesn't it depend on the country of shipping rather than the country of order in relation to import fees?
If so ordering from Amazon de could still attract fees if the goods are shipped from a UK warehouse.

Re: car battery.

I had the same need a couple of years ago but found that most suppliers only offered non descript brands. I wanted a Varta or a Bosch and struggled to find a supplier. Eventually found Kapodistrias Automotive Parts in Yeroskipo (behind Debenhams) and got a HD Bosch Silver battery. Asked for a discou...

Re: More COVID measures - partial lockdown with no limits on movement within province.

Well AJ I would be happy if the establishments that ignore the social distancing requirements went out of business very quickly. They know the rules that we have to follow and if they suffer financially as a result then so be it. Good riddance I'd say. I do however feel sorry for the businesses that...

Re: Flights via mainland Europe to the UK

To be allowed into Cyprus you need to complete a Cyprus Flight Pass and to do that currently you need to be a citizen or legal resident. Or have obtained special permission from the govt. If no negative covid test certificate within 72 hours of the flight is held then the test is taken on arrival at...

Re: Beko Distributor

You may have to go to the dark side for a Beko service centre seeing as they are a Turkish company.
Try emailing their Greek office for assistance http://www.beko.gr/contact-us/

Perfume & other beauty gifts.

Web site can be a bit sluggish at times but I was able to order some perfume that UK retailers would not ship to Cyprus. Shipping costs are €4 and goods are sent tracked through the Post Office system. Delivery times are quick and goods well packaged. https://getall.gr/ And to add, no I did not part...

Re: Don't park in disabled spots, police warn able-bodied drivers

The penalties for parking illegally in a disabled space are far too low. It should be a minimum of €500 for a first offence and vehicle confiscation for a second. I am not disabled, nor have I ever parked in a disabled space or parked on a pavement like a lot of people do because they're too lazy to...

Re: Immigration

Get there for 6am (take a flask or water). You'll have a 90min wait but you'll be first in and out by 8am. Or get there after 6.45 and expect a wait of around 2-4 hours.
