Re: Paphos - Polis Motorway Update - January 2024
I believe that the "tunnel" one can see on picture 5 (Motorway crossing) is also a drain for the little river which runs near that farm. It is most of the year dry, but in rainy times at can be a torrent. In that riverbed I was many times searching for minerals and found lovely crystals li...

Re: Aphrodite's Bridge
If you follow Kitchener's map from 1885, there was only one track coming down from Pano Archimandrita to that little bridge and continue over the hills towards Anoyira, quite away from the Roman road. (center map)

Re: An earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale occurred southwest of Cyprus.
The earthquake was felt in areas of the Paphos District. https://in-cyprus.philenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-1-32.jpg https://in-cyprus.philenews.com/local/earthquake-felt-in-cyprus/ Remains the question why does it need such a drastic image... when it was far out in the sea.......

I suggest to watch that video from a Doctor, perhaps it is helpful also about diagnosis.
I had issue with back pain in the past and another video from this guy helped me a lot, so I believe he knows what he is talking....

Last day in 2023 ....
Last day in 2023 started with a look through my window and I hurried up to get this pic done without opening the door https://up.picr.de/46859859me.jpg So now I am outdoors with a medium zoom to get the windmills at Kouklia hills, 15 km away https://up.picr.de/46859890tq.jpg Sun is on its way https:...

Re: Aphrodite's Bridge
Back to the bridge. Here a image from Kitchener's map 1885 showing that the only road towards Paphos from Limassol was then via the hills ( and the modern settlement of Aphrodite Hills now) https://up.picr.de/46858125hg.jpg It remains the question how vehicles could cross the Cha-Potami river when t...

Re: Aphrodite's Bridge
Could this bridge have replaced a medieval one that might of been there back in the day? Well, part of an old Roman road from Limassol to Palaepaphos (Kouklia) one can still see and use when you drive from Alektora village (Limassol district) towards Aphrodite hills via the surrounding hills with a...

Re: Aphrodite's Bridge
Interesting but hardly medieval, the river appears to go right up alongside the Secret valley golf course but then looks like it just ends, must be a lot of water coming down that way when it rains. 8-) The river is called Cha-Potami and is one of the longest rivers in Cyprus. The spring is near Pa...

Re: Two hours spent for lightning spectacle last night
Don't worry, when there is nothing else I can do except going to bed I enjoy to wait for good results, however as there is obviously not much interest in night pics, I can't be bothered to spent time and post it on here in future....

Two hours spent for lightning spectacle last night
I expected a lot of lightnings last evening and when it started I unplugged power from internet connection, for security reasons and had so time to watch what happens outside towards the Kouklia windpark through closed window. First my favourite one, showing the windmill lights as well... https://up...

Harbour promenade after last nights storm (pic)
Screen shot Elean webcam after the heavy storm last night. (8.30 AM). Harbour promenade does not look that bad, even without a sea front wall.

Re: Electric Cars - Caveat Emptor
But if you live in cyprus, most of your journeys are short distances, you can charge up your EV at home with (almost) free solar power and only occassionally feel the urge to travel from coast to coast (150 miles?) then maybe you should think about a reasonably priced EV for your next car purchase ...

sadly, I don't think that the people of the Ukraine will have the time, nor the inclination, to login to PL.
