Re: Save Electricity - small scale
We are on the cheaper off peak rate electricity. However, from June to September we pay more for our electric from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. We usually manage burning between 1 kw and 3 kw during this time. We fill one of those large pump flasks with boiling water for our numerous coffee drinks d...

Re: Eye treatment
Rosemary had hers done in Limassol by Dr Theodoros Potamitis at the Pantheo Eye clinic in Limassol. She had top of the range Zeiss bifocal lenses fitted so now does not need her reading glasses. Cost was around €2000 per eye, but this includes all follow up visits and annual checkups for life. She w...

Just renewed mine and paid an extra €14 in a fine for late payment. Have always paid in January previously.

Re: What did you do this morning..
Just got back after my walk. 4.6 miles, and I managed the steep inclines fine. Just wish I could do it on my bike, but I'm not allowed to ride it for three months. Very windy, and cold at the beginning and I had my woolly hat on. Then springlike weather and walked the rest of the walk without my hat...

Re: What did you do this morning..
Been to the docs for my annual diabetic check. Blood sugars over the last three months well below diabetic range and everything else ok. Now got to go for lung function tests in May, even though my breathing has returned to normal now after my heart bipass. Bit windy here in Wales, but 13c, so not b...

Re: Electric Bicycle - Help please
I have a full sized powabyke, and it is the best thing I have ever bought. Cannot ride it at the moment, due to my bipass operation, because if I fell off, it could cause me a lot of damage. It makes riding so much easier. Against the wind, or on a slight incline, it is like riding on the flat with ...

Re: Perhaps thankful I was in the UK
On New Years Day, when I was still in a&e I would have done anything to have had a ciggie. Rosemary refused to give me one, and the next day I was given patches and a nicotine inhaler, which really helped. After the operation, my lungs were in a mess, as were everyones, so the inhaler was not us...

Perhaps thankful I was in the UK
After reading the thread about Lawyer arrested for filming at the hospital, and Allesley's friend dying there in what appears to be in tragic circumstances, (my condolences to Allesley) perhaps I have to be very grateful I was not in Paphos during the Christmas holidays. We usually arrive at the beg...

Re: Returned to the Island
Unfortunately, we are still swallows. We regard Cyprus as our main home and we spend around 6 months of the year there. Two things have stopped us from moving there permanently, firstly the increase in retirement age in the UK and not being able to get health care free. When we bought in 2002, Rosem...

Re: Lets Kick off a Discussion
We still go down to the harbour for a walk and find the touting for business not to be a great problem. Nothing like it is in the places we have visited on cruises in Turkey. Many of the eastern European staff are very friendly. We enjoy meals or a coffee at Ma Bianca, where the owner is a teacher, ...
