Re: Sky news this morning.

Brits in Cyprus? This subject goes waaaay before 2004, when ROC joined the EU, surely? For example, during Margaret Thatcher's record reign as UK Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990 (the mere mention of who will make Jim's 'shop steward' blood boil and steam emit from his ears), she once entertained t...

Re: Sky news this morning.

When we came to Cyprus 23 years ago, buying a house and opening a bank account was not difficult if you had the money BUT you were not allowed to work (the so-called category F) And if you wanted to start your own company 51% of the company shares had to belong to a Cypriot. As far as I see it, aft...

Re: Sky news this morning.

It was very easy to come here pre-EU. I bought a house, a car, rented somewhere to live while the house was being built and opened a bank account within a three week holiday. When I returned a few months later, I completed the paperwork to achieve my 'Aliens book'. About the same paperwork that is ...

Re: Mind the snakes - Warning today in Paphos Press...

WHL Our cat used to catch them and flick them over onto their backs, OH had to deal with them then. Best option a glue trap specially for cockroaches, they're enclosed enough so that no other species can get in and come to harm, and they do work. To be honest, we dont see many as I put solution dow...

Re: Mind the snakes - Warning today in Paphos Press...

Agree with you, many years ago, I saw a poisonous snake in our garden, i put the two dogs inside, and picked up a garden spade that was near by , the snake had gone in the corner against the kitchen wall, as I approached it, it lifted its head upright, which gave me the chance to slam the spade into...

Re: Mind the snakes - Warning today in Paphos Press...

Id rather take my chance with a rat, then a dangerous snake, I dont have a problem if someone kills it. the same way I would stamp on a cockroach if I see one in the house or garden.
