Re: Get away for winter . BBC tv

Dominic, I enjoy these type of programmes because I love looking at houses😀 But there are a lot of naive people out there and this programme is as bad as the agents who try to sell you a holiday home and lie about the amount of income you will get. I have only watched the one so far but it didn't ri...

Re: Get away for winter . BBC tv

I watched the first one set in Portugal and was astounded by the high cost of renting there. The programme is a joke and could delude some people into thinking this is possible. Absolutely no warning about letting out your home for 6 months and the tenants not moving out on the day you want to retur...

Re: NHS treatment for ExPats

As an aside to the main topic I have just moved home in the UK and we have been asked for our NI number from practically every bit of paperwork involved in moving. From the solicitor dealing with the sale/purchase to getting a bus pass in a different county, water, sewage. etc. I have never come acr...

Re: The Coronation

Just watched this. Not as much from the Queen as inhad hoped but very interesting from the perspective of someone who was 6 years old. I do remember the street party. An aunty had a television but you had to go to the cinema to see it in colour. I do wonder what will happen when she has gone.

Re: Travel insurance

Do you think people don't try to find insurance to cover themselves? It's not that easy when you get to 75 and want to stay for 60 to 90 days with or without prescription existing conditions. Believe me. Just look at the ages and length of stay Photo Lady posted.

Re: Travel insurance

Vic, we had the same problem. We come out twice a year for around the same number of days as you. We are 71 and 77 with pre existing conditions. We eventually found Liverpool Victoria, LV, were the only company that suited us though not cheap at £400 per annum. That was until renewal last year. When...

Re: Cycleband/Ikoagora/Grand

In theory it is a good idea but I wonder how much plastic waste is actually being saved. I always recycle surplus bags by using them as binliners. Now, when I am back in the UK, I have to buy plastic bags to put in my kitchen bin and will soon have to do the same in Cyprus. Don't get me wrong, I kno...

Re: Visiting hours at Paphos General Hospital

Jim I think you will find that most travel insurance policies do not pay for treatment in a private hospital. In countries that have a reciprocal agreement with the UK you are expected to show your EHIC card and use the same facilities as the residents. I highlighted this when my husband needed to b...

Re: Visiting hours at Paphos General Hospital

Don't think there are any set times or if there are they are not enforced. When my husband was in there in November I went up about 10.30, 3.00 and back again about 6.00pm. There were always visitors there.

Re: Log burners and carbon monoxide.

Sorry Dominic. Didn't know I was breaking the rules. It is the first time I have tried to share anything but with all the talk about log burners I thought it would be a useful post. (Amazed that I actually managed to do it!). Pat

Re: easyJet

Just had an email from friend in Bristol and it sounds like he had the same problem as you. He was booking as soon as they were released as well. Site must be overloaded.

I went on the Google browser on my tablet and it worked fine. Might not next time of course 😀

Re: easyJet

John, I find using the web page is better than the app on my tablet. I kept checking both at 10 minute intervals and the app said my dates not available but they were available on the website. Re the seats. I had to change my return flight from December to this Friday. I did it 35 days before my ret...

Flight bags only Kili. I have just been to Stavros Honey shop and just bought some to leave here sadly. Given up on taking some home. Nice people and you can taste the different flavours before you buy. Thanks for your replies, Pat

Re: Paphos Airport Help

Dominic, I think the same. The rules seem silly. WHL I have read your link and it appears that you can take a maximum of 1 litre of liquid. As I said above seems silly. Maggie I hope Flossie can help as I am not a shopper and haven't been to the mall yet, and not likely too unless Flossie says they ...

Paphos Airport Help

Does anyone have experience of taking liquids/ creams over the 100 ml limit through Paphos Airport please. Are they very strict. Nothing sinister. I want to take home some small jars of raw honey from Stavros in Chloraka but don't want to risk them being confiscated. I am only taking hand luggage. T...

Re: Did anybody noticed the earthquake yesterday evening?

I have an app, My Earthquake Alert, and it is not showing any earthquakes in Cyprus. Mind you it is quite scary seeing the earth moving activity going on all around us constantly!

The papers are reporting a large earthquake in Iran at 8.18pm so maybe you felt some tremors from there, Pat
