Re: Fridge/freezer disposal

For the OP, it depends where you live, but there are Green Dot recycling centres around where you can take such things for free. There's one at Akoursos, for example, near Peyia, and a soon-to-open one in Moutallos.

Re: Eggs

The egg and chicken shop in Moutallos Agree, best by a country mile. And that's from 25 years' experience. The next best are Kolios 1+1 eggs (expensive for one box but 1+1 lightens the load on the wallet). They have the thickest shells I have ever come across anywhere in the world. Not sure what th...

Re: GLUTEN FREE BREAD

I remember hearing , rightly or wrongly, that they are Brothers, Doesn't necessarily mean that they would trade with each other Families being what they are. Yes, they are brothers. They started Paps supermarket in Chlorakas together many years ago (late 80's/early 90's?), but one brother left to s...

Spice and Easy in Peristerona have them.

Bit of a treck but well worth the visit if you haven't been there before. Lovely couple run the shop. They are at some of the farmers' markets. If you go, check on the opening times first.

Re: Garden invasion ...

We lived in London many years ago and were plagued with urban foxes. A fox run appeared at the bottom of our garden. It was suggested that a rag soaked in diesel would deter them- and it did. Good luck.

Re: here we go again!

My next door neighbour, a 79-year old Cypriot, lost the sight of one eye many, many years ago. He drives slowly and badly.
I once asked him if his insurance company knew about his eyesight problem. He looked at me as if I was stark raving mad.

Re: D-link router security system

Many thanks for all the help and suggestions, so quickly - much appreciated. Dominic - in answer to your last Q, the only telephone point in my flat - and hence where the Cyta router is connected - is in the most inconvenient, stupid place imaginable (near the floor in a bedroom - thank you Aristo)....

D-link router security system

I'm thinking of using a D-link router to which would be connected sensors/cameras etc. Ideally, I would replace my Cyta router with this one, but as I've read over the years, it's not that simple (for me, anyway) to change the settings on the new router to match the Cyta settings. Two questions: can...

Many thanks, Paul. Appreciate the helpful reply. We only have room for a small fan, and then only at the back, so it sounds a good move!

Cheers

Fans for log burning stoves

Does anyone have any experience of the Peltier-effect type of fan (or other type, for that matter) which sits on top of the stove and circulates warm air.

They look a bit ugly, but appear to be quite effective, according to reviews.

I took in an HP 8600Plus OfficeJet to Paws in Chlorakas last week. It may still be there. It works perfectly, but having retired we don't need umpteen printers around any more!

Re: Just Been Hit By A Drunk Driver

That list is fascinating, but I'm not sure it's correct. Just a few years ago, I completely forgot the reduced speed limit on the flyovers at Limassol and was nabbed by a m/c cop. I was doing 100kph (20kph - i.e. 25% - over the limit) and got a fine of 20x€2, whereas the list suggests I should have ...

Re: Oil-Filled Radiators

We had friends over last Christmas, staying at a flat we have. It's a fairly well insulated place, with double glazing and only two outside walls.

The friends used a couple of oil-filled radiators to keep warm. They didn't do much cooking. Our electricity bill was €100 higher than usual!
