Shame you aren't on facebook. This sort of thing goes down a storm there. I may have to share it on your behalf...
No prob, go ahead, you don't have to ask in future Dominic...
I hope your dog will recover soon from whatever poisoning it was. As he is still alive after you went to the vet there is large hope. I know exactly how you feel. When I was still living in Germany my best dog ever, a Champion Alsatian (winner of many trophies) was poisoned in his own kennel in my g...
I had another 5l/m2 rain last night - altogether the last 3 funny days only 10l/m2. Not enough for our Paphos dam but better than nothing. I bet a lot of drinking water will be wasted today in order to clear verandas etc from the red dust with the garden hose....
Here, 0.3 mm yesterday and 5.1 mm today, which is all we've had for the whole month :( There is still a possibility of a little this afternoon/evening but I anticipate only a couple of mm, at the most. The wind (gale) didn't materialise over the last couple of days, either, with a max gust of 5.3 m...
That's what I call doing things in a big way. Of course there is the space AND the money to do it, but amazing for a country which is one of the largest Oil and Gas producer worldwide. (project size: 200.000 Megawatt peak. Cyprus would be happy to have 50 MWp installed one day!) https://www.photon.i...
In my place some km more to the South was obviously quite a wind as plastic chairs and flower pots changed their place...
Unfortunately only little rain of 4l/m2, but forecast for later on some more supposed to come (flood warning in place ??)
Paphos town had also only 5l/m2 at the Mall.
If you bothered to look in the top links Al you would see that there are already two there. They've been there since the thread began. Thanks, Dom. But these 2 links are general weather-related. I'm looking for the sort of link that Max sometimes posts, giving prevailing atmoshperic dust levels ove...
Totally and absolutely OFF TOPIC, but the next time I resurface in Paphos (14 to 28 Feb 2019), PL will be just over two years old, with well over 1,000 members. AL :? NOT off topic is my answer to your question concerning the link how to find the pollution forecast, which I did at great length. I c...
I like the extra hour in the evening as in Cyprus it is getting dark very early due to it's easterly location in Europe, not like Germany or North Italy where in summer is daylight until 10.30 pm.
Article finally with a warning in PaphosPress, the reading right now is even more with 710 microgram in Paphos. https://pafospress.com/%ce%ba%cf%84%cf%8d%cf%80%ce%b7%cf%83%ce%b5-%ce%ba%cf%8c%ce%ba%ce%ba%ce%b9%ce%bd%ce%bf-%ce%b7-%cf%83%ce%ba%cf%8c%ce%bd%ce%b7-%cf%80%ce%bd%ce%af%ce%b3%ce%b7%ce%ba%ce%b...
Anastasiades could start with changes in his own country Cyprus, allowing the installation of photo-voltaic systems more easy than it is now with all the administrative barriers from EAK, which is half Government controlled. It is very clear that producing PV power, the electricity provider tries to...
I don't know where the "PAPHOS TRAFFIC STATION" is located exactly but at 23.00 last night the PM10 reading for dust was 811 micrograms per cubic meter of air - filthy stuff!: http://www.airquality.dli.mlsi.gov.cy/site/graphs I believe it is at Kouklia. Right now it is again very bad PM10...
It's another Goldfinch Max. The 2nd photo shows an adult bird in fresh plumage, the 1st photo looks to be a worn version of it but it could just be in a distressed state, when was the 1st photo taken? Here is a recording of a male Goldfinch singing : https://www.xeno-canto.org/390605 Shane The firs...
