Re: Immigration

Well, I did use a well known agent to help me and it paid off when after 9 months my MEU3 still hadn’t arrived. They found out that although it had apparently been issued and posted, when it still hadn’t come, they were able to arrange for me to get duplicate one. For this one of the agents staff de...

I saw some Saffron in the large herb and spices section at Papantinou yesterday in small glass bottles, but can’t vouch for its quality,. It was in the Chloraka store,

Re: Water pumped from the sea to the land for Cyprus' high-rise buildings

HIC, I take your point, regarding high rise buildings built in earthquake zones. But in most developed countries planning and building regs such as the UK, USA etc govt planning depts have the services of their own highly experienced chartered surveyors who will check these plans before they are pas...

Re: Water pumped from the sea to the land for Cyprus' high-rise buildings

HIC, I guess that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I got used to high rise buildings while living in Hong Kong, but there land was at a premium. I don’t think that they improve the look of Limassol. Neither do quite a lot of people who live there. Imagine how you would feel if the view from you...

Re: Water pumped from the sea to the land for Cyprus' high-rise buildings

Yes, badly written and confusing.
I hope that someone or some body will be able to set a precedent and challenge some of these part foreign financed planning applications for ugly high rise buildings which are springing up, particularly in Limassol, but Paphos is also in danger too.

Re: Cost of a soft drink

I don’t think that retail price maintenance is practiced in Paphos! Every sales outlet can charge what they want/ what their market with stand. Supermarkets usually seem to be cheaper than kiosks.Cafes charge what they like too!

Does the above mainly apply to BOC? I’m with Alpha, and so far my bank accounts aren’t loaded with these extra charges!

Re: Akrotiri and Larnaca Airport at risk of sinking

Devil, I know that you are considered an authority on many things, but how would you explain the fact that at the end of each of the ice ages somehow the ice in the glaciers somehow melted, and as a result a huge amount of water from the huge glaciers resulted. The result being a dramatic rise in se...

Re: The poppy

The poppy was adopted as the flower of remembrance, because in Flanders the poppy appeared in the fields where the fighting had previously taken place as poppies grow well on ground that was disturbed. So the red of the petals is presumably symbolic of the blood which was shed..

Re: Akrotiri and Larnaca Airport at risk of sinking

Overly dramatic statement. In fact as I have posted before the earth has already been through three ice ages when glaciers covered most of the northern hemisphere as well as both poles. Rivers froze or dried up and seas retreated, thus more land appeared where before there was water. In between them ...

Re: Paphos Winter Tourism hit by Thomas Cook collapse

I suppose that the winter tourist season in Paphos is more likely to suffer a downturn in numbers given the collapse of a major UK tour operator, than say Limassol. Limassol is not only dependent on tourism as it has a thriving financial , business and commercial sector and hosts conferences and sym...

Re: Record October inflow into dams; now 80% full (table)

Yes, its good to see that the reservoirs are being topped up, but they aren’t yet full. No one really knows what sort of winter is ahead of us. Plus as there is so much new building going on in the Paphos area, no doubt tons upon tons of concrete is being used. Which takes a lot of water. So, it is ...

Agree with both of you, Jim and Kansas.
I would add the following. Since this year Cyprus seems to be short of the flu vaccine, the more people who decide not to have it for their own reasons - the better it is for those of us who want and need it.

End of..

I think that on this occasion the weather forecast, at least in the Coastal area from Coral Bay thru Chloraka to Paphos, was wrong. Not a drop of rain.A few black clouds were visible yesterday afternoon, but otherwise it’s been sunny and warm!
