Re: Cycleband/Ikoagora/Grand

I have a large carrier bag stuffed full of old strong carrier and other plastic bags in the boot of my car. When I go into a supermarket, I hang the bag of bags on the trolley, then present it to the checkout girl first, before the groceries. That way, anybody who wants to help me load up, can use m...

Re: Green points to open in coming months

So long as the snakes you attract are the black ones, it's not a problem. They're good to have around as they eat rats and BNVs. it's the BNVs you don't want to encourage.

Yes, rather worrying, but it just adds to what I've already been told by people who live in TRNC.

Re: Green points to open in coming months

One paragraph near the end of the article caught my attention.... “The responsibility of the collection, disposal and treatment of green waste, as well as other recyclables, lies with the local authorities. That’s why several proceeded with the construction of their own GP to serve their local resi...

Re: Recommendations please

When we were building out here, we often stayed in the Niki Court Apartments. Basic, cheap and the owner very friendly. Located in a small cul-de-sac just behind the "Handkerchief Tree" at the King Solomon's Tomb. I see they've been extended (and presumably renovated) since we stayed. http...

Re: For Cheese lover - Swiss Appenzeller today at Lidl TOTK

It was in stock at the newer, bottom of Mesoghi Avenue, Lidl's on Thursday when I popped in for 2 or 3 items - and walked out with a trolley full, including some of this yummy cheese that I'd not tried before. If you don't want the rest of yours, Devil, pass it on to me! As I'm not an aficiona...

Re: Cyprus faces summer water shortage due to lack of rain

Don't worry, Paphos can always tanker water in from Greece like they did before!!! ;) Shane But it sat in the tankers at the port for so long it went 'off' and had to be dumped!! It was not Tankers, it was only one which sat for two weeks and was not suitable to be put into the system, it wa...

Re: Animal Party hits out over mass cat poisoning

I remember many years ago we holidayed in one particular Greek island - there were many feral cats, scrounging for food at the taverna tables and getting underfoot. Yes, as cat lovers, we felt sorry for them but we did not feed them because we knew that cats can and will feed themselves, and nature ...

Re: Tsada The Scenic Way

Another lovely blog, Dominic. Haven't tried that actual route yet, but managed several of the Armou to Tsada ones years ago, looking for a more direct route Polemi-Armou or Polemi-Anavargos. We would often take the route from Konia, past Armou, towards Episkopi and then through Minthis Hills if we w...

Re: Paphos cat lady's work saved by donated car

Flossie, it's a brilliant service and the drivers are much more than just drivers - they help the patients on/off the bus, ensure they get to whichever clinic they are visiting in plenty of time for their appointment, ensure that they have all remaining patients on the last bus back to Paphos, and t...

Re: BoC

Hi Kay. Hope you're well. Hellenic have also hiked the charge for cheque books ordered from the branch (to over €13 I think). But if you order online it is about 40% less. I've just ordered two personal cheque books recently and it brought home just how little we use cheque books these days; both h...

Re: Paphos cat lady's work saved by donated car

The Pasykaf buses offer a free service and the Paphos buses often collect and deliver Limassol patients en route. However, the buses have a timetable to keep to, so if your treatment is likely to last beyond the time the last bus is scheduled to leave the BoC Oncology Centre (1pm), best to make your...

Re: BoC

I think BoC are trying to encourage their customers to use online banking, rather than over-the-counter services. I got caught with a €15 charge for a new cheque book that the branch ordered for me - just to change from a joint account to a sole account, same account number. Mind, they didn't charge...

Yippee! It's tipping down out there. Those hunters daft enough to brave the elements today are getting a rather cold power shower, sufficient to dampen their ardour

Re: Rain

Well, we had a little heavy rain (sorry, I mean a short spell of heavy rainfall  ) early this morning, just before I switched on an electric fire and tripped the fuses. Fortunately, by the time I'd fetched the torch, checked the inside fuse box and decided I really did need to traipse outside ...

Re: weird morning mood yesterday 27.12. (pics)

Max, once again, thank you for such lovely photos - very impressive, especially as you are currently suffering from man flu. Get well soon - drink lots of hot water with honey and lemon, or alternatively hot water with whisky. The latter drink does nothing to cure your flu, but if you drink enough o...
