Re: Fury over "state piracy" as West weighs action against Belarus
IMHO, the UN should totally sanction Belarus, forbidding all members any contact , diplomatic or otherwise, with it. No trade, close all roads/rail/air. Isolate the country for the pariah it is!

Re: Your first wage.
As a national serviceman, while in basic training at Catterick, I received the princely sum of 21/- (shillings) per week or GBP1.05. I was demobbed 54 months later as a Class A2 tradesman (radio mechanic) on £4 4s 0d/week. After that, I worked as a radio engineer (five year university qualification)...

Re: Redcurrant Jelly and Mint Jelly
Instead of redcurrant jelly, try mosfilo jelly. The fruit grows abundantly in this region and is a large cross between a redcurrant and a Hip. You can get the jelly in any supermarket. It would probably go quite well with the lamb.

Re: At what elevation to expect snow / frost
I have used a private ambulance from Aretaia Hospital in Strovolos on a number of occasions without taking a subscription. It costs us typically about 35% more than a taxi would over the same distance. Their service is generally impeccable although we did have one letdown when they were unable to co...

Re: At what elevation to expect snow / frost
In 23 years, we have seen snow having settled ephemerally just three times at slightly under 300 m altitude. We have gone into negative temperatures (just!) perhaps a dozen times or so. Our record negative temperature, measured correctly, was -2.3°C ±0.4°.

What is the building to the right of photograph 098? Do you know who owns it? If it is on municipal property, it should not really be there!

Can't tell for sure without a cadastral map, but I suggest either your house is where it shouldn't be or the boundary is further out than you think. You must have 3 m between the construction and the boundary and it does not look that way!

Re: Cyprus Winter Fuel Payment
That's a shame, thanks to all who live in Cyprus that voted leave  It seems to me that Brits can be very greedy, indeed. While thousands of people are on the streets in Britain, unable to find a place to rest their head, you get a load of Brits, living in luxury on a warm semi-tropical island...

Re: Cyprus Driving Licence Second Renewal
I'm 89 and my current licence is valid for three years. However, that having been said, I am voluntarily revoking it because I feel that my standard of driving has dropped sufficiently to justify withdrawal. I have no desire to enter the statistics as being someone who caused the fatal accident. Inc...

Re: Looking for recommendations for a new Bank Account
I find that an interesting reply because I'm trying to do the complete opposite i.e. to access my accounts without having to go through smart phone. I'm told that the bank cannot ensure security without having to dial-hop between the computer and mobile: I would like the bank to "forget definit...

Re: Pollution from fireworks
I have no scientific proof as to the cause. Notwithstanding, there are reasonable grounds to assume that fireworks were probably responsible for the increase in PM 10. I have never seen PM 10 to increase significantly without PM 2.5 and PM 1.0 reacting similarly. By the end of the morning the 3 PM v...

PM10 went up significantly peaking 02;00 TO 04:00 on 1 May to just over 100 µg/m³ ; not too bad for health
