Re: What a bunch of muppets
I must admit it's the first time I've been called a right winger.............JB needs to review some of my other posts. Nor am I a rampant brexiteer, far from it.................... but I just think that sometimes the EU with it's 'one size fits all' philosophy is a weakness rather than a strength. N...

Re: What a bunch of muppets
A lot of nonsense going on at the moment....................Germans now saying the AZ vaccine doesn't work on the over 65's. They are desperate for the Pfizer vaccine (which they funded) to stay relevant because they know that the cost and ease of use of the AZ Vaccine blows Pfizer out of the water ...

I am guessing with a name like 'Les' he is not born and brought up in Cyprus but is an immigrant himself...........................just because you arrive on a plane and not a 'rubber boat' doesn't make you superior

In lockdown, can I suggest you broaden your horizons and read something like 'The Beekeeper of Aleppo', you may not then be as quick to make such a stupid joke !!!

Yes from the pub or the Daily Mail.............................at least the much maligned younger generation don't seem to harbor the prejudices that my generation do, so there is still hope that the world can become a better place !

Fully agree guys, but I am sure that there are 'ex pats' around that hold some pretty obnoxious views about immigrants and if they were called immigrants themselves they may come to realise the absurdity of their stance

Re: Could Brexit signal the end of the road for second-home owners in Europe?
One interesting dynamic from the change will be if British people who settled in Cyprus and have acquired their residency rights will begin to call themselves immigrants rather than ex-pats. The term ex-pat is short for someone who is living outside their native land and is usually taken to apply to...

Re: Cyprus To Be Removed From UK Travel Corridor on Sunday Nov 1st
We're flying back to the UK on Monday having been here a month. We arrived having had a negative covid test and seen the Cypriot rate rise to just above a 100 per 100,000 but have felt relatively safe here'. At the same time the local rate in Sheffield where we live is in the 700/750 per 100,000 bra...

Hope you're right HIC and I accept the point that there is not a wide spread prevalence of the disease but if there is a potential concentration of the virus it is likely yo be around airports and hospitals............better being safe than sorry.

Re: UK Still in Category B! (Oct 6th)
Having flow in from Manchester on Tuesday and then going to the airport on Wednesday to pick up some friends, it is clear that if the passengers don't catch it on the plane they will have a fair chance of catching off the taxi driver !! Standing outside the terminal for half an hour, it was quite cl...

Took the words right out of my mouth Dominic. Get a bit fed up sometimes of the 'I'm alright jack' brigade on here. An ex pat with an index linked pension can afford to hunker down, unlike some poor Cypriot working in the tourist trade with 3 kids to support.

Re: COVID TEST AT CYPRUS AIRPORT
Hi Suetal, Ignore the 'holier than thou' brigade on here and get a NHS test if it suits. I have a mate who works in one the clinical commissioning groups and the tests cost the NHS approx £6. Given the massive testing infrastructure now in place, PHE are desperate for people to be tested to improve ...

Re: COVID TEST AT CYPRUS AIRPORT
We flew in on Easyjet on Tuesday from Manchester and those requiring testing at the airport had to get off the plane last. Surprisingly a number of the Cypriots on the plane were like most of the Brits and were brandishing NHS test result e-mails at Passport Control. If you can put up with the stres...

Re: Covid 19 test
The truth is that the tests cost the NHS about £6 each and with the significant over capacity within the testing infrastructure the Clinical Commissioning Groups are keen to have as many people as possible taking the test...............they just can't be seen to be encouraging people to take a test ...

As a member of EJ's frequent flyers club we can change flights within the 14 days which we have been doing so far. Like you we fully respect the stance taken by the Cypriot authorities and the deaths/case numbers from the UK do not make pleasant reading. However the impact of the virus has been very...
