Re: Macarthur Hotel, Agios Georgios

I seem to recall passing by this hotel when we were staying at Panareti Coral Bay resort in a 1 bedroom apt for just one night. It followed a day or so after the coldest winter Cyprus had experienced for many years. Snow fell in the coastal resorts as well as Nicosia and also our own large village/s...

Re: Can you drive into My Mall Limassol from the back?

If you take the old road towards Limassol past Pissouri and down through Episkopi Garrison, turn right after Ancient Kourion in the direction of Kolossi and shoot off left through Trachoni (Traxoni), it will bring you out almost on top of My Mall. This link will take you to Google Maps: https://www....

Re: Important: Receiving medicinal products from the UK in Cyprus?

This is probably a stupid question, so don’t shoot the questioner, but why would a resident of Cyprus have medicine posted from the U.K.? Are we talking about private purchases or from a GP practice? Or does this include vitamins etc that I guess may fall under the banner of medicine? Ian Those sam...

Re: Important: Receiving medicinal products from the UK in Cyprus?

I guess anyone previously a resident of UK and living permanently in Cyprus who orders medication to be delivered from UK to Cyprus; or those get UK prescription medication dispatched postally to them by members of their family should each consider if they voted Leave in the Brexit vote when they pu...

Re: FIFA World Cup Football..

The company I worked for in UK before we moved to Cyprus in 2004, opened the canteen, moved TV screens into the room and we were encouraged to attend and watch in shifts whilst the work was still carrying on in the office.
It ensured bums on seats 👌

Re: John Lewis Christmas Advert 2022: The Beginner

My easter eggs given to me as a child could still be found in the back of the cupboard in the sideboard come Christmas. I only ever ate the contents inside the shells. I am an only child so didn't have anyone else to share with and my parents weren't chocolate eaters. Needless to say, they never see...

Re: Ben Fogle's Lost Worlds - Cyprus

Sadly, my understanding from the numerous Cyprus related groups, news reports and people from both sides of the divide is that indeed it is the GC side which has a problem with any reunification. Much of it boils down to money and where it will go if it finally becomes a much simpler option to trans...

Fact Check Did Cadbury Candies Eliminate the Word 'Easter'? Although some Cadbury chocolates did not feature the word "Easter" on their packaging, the company didn't eliminate references to that holiday. Claim: Cadbury has entirely eliminated use of the word "Easter" on the packa...

Re: Ben Fogle's Lost Worlds - Cyprus

We enjoyed the programme and had set up a reminder to watch it when it aired here in UK. I like Ben Fogle but I think this programmed did deserve more airtime and perhaps could have been done as a 2 part series to allow for discussion with both sides. Not enough was given to the Turkish Cypriot side...

Re: Cyprus to UK Post

This was always normal when we dispatched our stamp orders to UK from Cyprus when we lived there.

It's post incoming to Cyprus that appears to go into a black hole for a number of days once it's reached the sorting office at LCA airport.

Re: Smart App or SMS Payment Required At 8 Parking Locations From Monday

Trev, think I would be finding another car park. I've had a mobile phone since the early 1990s but always on PAYG for calls and texts, no data services as both me and my husband linked to our own broadband router at home or used free WiFi hotspots when out and about, or travelling. I got myself a SM...

I looked this morning on my phone for a Paphos parking app to download. I found quite a few on there, but I didn't know which one to download ?? Trev If you go back to the first post in the thread from Dominic and click through to the article, the links are there to take you to the correct app for ...

Re: Smart App or SMS Payment Required At 8 Parking Locations From Monday

I'm not talking about residents parking, but the cost you pay when you go down to the shops. Neither am I. We don't have residents parking in our village. The permit is for car parks in shopping areas. It was available to use at approx 7 designated public car parks in about 4 of the local towns. It...

Re: Smart App or SMS Payment Required At 8 Parking Locations From Monday

Incidentally, anybody moaning about the cost of parking here should try using a car park in the UK. Some of them will make your eyes water. Our local council issued a residents pass a number of years ago, at a cost of £20 and linked to the car registration as well as the residential address. A pass...
