Mine too! Isn't a chocolate teapot.... Its always excepted by the post office and almost anywhere else, used purely for its ID info. It saves carrying my passport on these occasions.

I have my old ID card and I still find it useful even though it expired several years ago. If there is no rush to obtain the new card, it seems as if a lot of us will be doing nowt! UKW1 will be valid for 5 yrs, UKW3 will be valid for
10, according to the article in yesterdays paper. Also, it can't be used for ID purposes and it will carry your fingerprints as part of the biometric data.
Plus it will entail further visits to our lovely Immigration Dept offices.
