Re: Dashcams again.

I think that someone bringing across somebody else's sealed package from the UK to Cyprus as their own personal items are leaving themselves very open. Of course we all accept that JimX is an honest person and that the people that have offered to bring it over are honest people (Termites Dream and N...

Re: Re-cycle

Can you tell me which places please? Jeanne I live to the East of Limassol in Moni and this village and none of the nearby villages have any recycling bins or places for recycling. Moni did have a reasonable number of paper/metal, plastic/glass but were removed as a) they were to popular, b) other ...

Number of Police Officers in Cyprus

Overall, there were 318 police officers per 100 000 people in the EU in 2016, or one police officer per 314 people. However,...

Re: Police in new campaign against drunk driving

WHL, plenty of banned drivers in the UK get jailed for driving whilst disqualified, just doesn't make the papers (Not usually newsworthy). Paul and Lesley, quite often the UK Police and Court system fast tracked drink driving offences over the Christmas period and people arrested overnight for drink...

Which proves that prison doesn't rehabilitate the offender(s), what it does teach them is to be better at crime and not get caught!

What it does do is it gives the public a short break from the offender.

Re: Burglary in Peyia

JimX have a proper read of the Cypriot papers and news, plenty of reports of Police admittedly not chasing vehicles but firing shots at them to stop! Agreed always an issue whether to pursue a suspect vehicle or not but it is very well monitored and you require permission to pursue a suspect vehicle...

Re: Burglary in Peyia

Most burglars use illegal vehicles to and from committing their crimes and to transport the stolen goods.

Therefore the traffic officer doing vehicle checks of whatever sort (speed enforcement/vehicle defects/documents) is actually assisting in reducing and detecting crime.

Re: Parliament moves to raise traffic fines, €300 for seat belts

Yes it is a good idea that punishments are raised bearing in mind that a lot of peoples income has increased far quicker and more than that the fines have. However you have to get people to actually believe that they are going to get stopped and then prosecuted for them to take any increase seriousl...

What is the percentage of disabled badge holders in Cyprus?

What is the percentage of disabled parking spaces in a Cypriot shop/car park?

Quite often a café/shop will have 4/5/6 parking spaces outside their premises and one of those is marked disabled parking only.

Re: Paphos driver jailed for two months for drunk driving

ChrisPam, yes most certainly the Police do target drink drivers (and disqualified drivers) in the UK. Basically you identify a vehicle parked on licensed premises (those close to the front doors are best as they have been there the longest), check the index number so you know the address and hence w...
