Re: Tiles stores

The pool shops such as Florida pools usually sell pool tiles. If you are not fussy they might have enough end of line ones at a good price to clear them out.

Re: sticking door

Sorry, I think I have not explained it very well. The problem is at the side of the door where it meets the frame. When the door is "closed", there is a a gap where it meets the frame at the top, but the bottom fouls the frame and will not close.

sticking door

Does anyone know how to adjust a typical cypriot internal door? It is not wood, ( the house is about 15 years old). It seems to have dropped. There is a gap at the top but the bottom is sticking. It lifts off the 3 hinges , which seem to be embedded in the frame. They are quite small and remind me o...

Re: Alex's Farm of Strays Animal Rescue

Poor Alex is a young girl. She now has a few helpers but could do with more. She is also full to bursting, and recently had an out break of some contagious disease, but I think it is cleared now. There is a fund raising event at Tsada this Saturday with the singer Gaynor supporting it. No idea what ...

Re: New tax laws re: government sourced pensions.

I am fairly sure the DT has been ratified and comes into force from Jan 19, as detailed here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/cyprus-tax-treaties I think you are right Hudswell! The only thing I could find was article 27, still to be ratified. Looks like my 20 minutes telephoning was a t...

New tax laws re: government sourced pensions.

I spoke to a tax technician today, nothing has been decided yet, it has not even been agreed, so carry on as before! I also asked about having to declare any offshore accounts by 28th September. It only applies to UK residents. In other words, at the moment, no change, and there might not be yet!

Re: Tremithousa official dog pound

Tremithousa does not have a dog pound. When I went in to pay our dog licence I asked about it. They do not have enough money coming in to provide one. They have an arrangement with Paphiakos whereby if you inform the council they contact Paphiakos and they collect. They pay a fee for this. We found ...

Re: Pool law killing small business

Do Paphos municipality really think they would get into hot water (pardon the pun) if someone drowns or some other accident in a complex pool? There have been none up to now, but there might be? Maybe they should be lobbying a bit harder for the Government to get to the table! What has happened to P...

Re: Motor insurance.Joint names.

And trying to change your electricity bill from say your husbands name to yours if this becomes a necessity is an appalling performance. The procedure adopted by EAC makes the whole stressful business much more stressful. They won’t do it the obvious way, simply to change the account holders name (...

Re: One for Cyprusmax.

A neighbour has given me a highly scented fruit. It has yellow skin and pink flesh. 1) can we eat the skin? 2) Do we remove the seeds? Max will have the answer I reckon! :D Could be Guava, when ripe quite smelly. If you wash the skin with hot water you can eat it. Concerning the seeds: one or two f...

Re: Motor insurance.Joint names.

There is a difference between joint insurance and joint ownership. Jointly owned car needs to be on the log book. Citizens service centre will do it. Passport, yellow slip, and named insurers. Most insurers have no problem with both spouses as named drivers.
