Re: Coronavirus: Cabinet introduces Coronapass for access to venues after lockdown ends
Looking at the statistics, to me, what was the purpose of the last two weeks lockdown. There has been only marginal improvement. The new 'rules' with encourage people to have the vaccination and this can only be a good thing. Unfortunately there will be cases where the vaccination alternative is no...

Re: New Polemi Webcam
Speaking of the webcams, it would be great if someone could clean the Latchi one. I'm presuming it's got a layer of salt on the lens which makes Latchi look like it's foggy.

It's still so nice and green up there, down here (Anarita) it's all dried up already - they've already made haybales out of the wheat field near my house.
I was wondering where to go for my Saturday outing, and your blog encouraged me to head up onto the hills to enjoy the greenery, so thank you

Re: Tourists as of today 4th April 2021
I think that dropping the sms requirement sends a message that the crisis is over, whereas it far from is. Having it in place works as a reminder that we still need to be careful and be a bit more selective about what we choose to do.

And it's not just about covid deaths. We don't know how many people have suffered from long covid, where they keep struggling with their health for months after 'recovering'/getting negative results. Or how many will end up with chronic conditions from having been ill with covid. The other concern i...

Re: Thursday 11th March - Last day to renew road tax for 2021
I normally renew my road tax for 12 months at the beginning of January on the jcc system, but this time I annoyingly made a mistake and only taxed my car for 3 months (until end of March). Would I have to pay a surcharge when I go to pay for the next 9 months? No, because you paid for the Jan-Mar o...

They're still at the end of the airport. This photo was taken mid-February. You need to drive down near the sewage works at Acheilia.

Re: EshopweDrop
I have used eshopwedrop quite a few times with no problems. If I remember right, parcels leave their warehouse every Thursday, arriving in Nicosia on Tuesday 12 days later. It then arrives in Paphos a day or 2 later. You choose whether to collect at a post office or have it delivered. You pay the es...

Re: Spring temperature already 3/2/21
Well, I had my swim today and loved it! Wasn't as still and clear as I'd have liked (in which case I'd have snorkelled) but was still in almost 30 minutes and it was so pleased I went in.

Re: Spring temperature already 3/2/21
I am really tempted to swim tomorrow with this gorgeous weather we're having. I swam up to 10th Jan but then the weather changed and I haven't been back since. I was fine with the sea temp till the 10th (I get in and start my swimming fast for a bit), hopefully it's not too much colder. I'd go today...

Re: Compulsory Covid Test
As Ian said, this was announced with the other changes on Wednesday and was included in the news reports. They substantially increased the number of testing places for yesterday, today and tomorrow to avoid long queues and make it easier for people to get tested. I drove past 1 today and there were ...

Re: Space Station visibile to naked eye
It was fantastic a few years ago when it went over on Christmas Eve. We told my young nephew and niece that it was Santa on his sleigh, (travelling to give presents to children on a different time zone before coming back to us). They were so excited!! I had the app on my phone so knew exactly what t...

Re: A & E .GESY
This is a worrying development, how can we have just one A&E in Paphos? I've paid for private health insurance ever since I moved to Cyprus (long before Gesy) so that I didn't have to use the General. While I've been lucky and never had to use Evangelismos' A&E it was very comforting to know...

Re: Evangelismos Hospital
They had announced it on their Facebook page back in November, I think it closed from early December. If I remember right they blamed the government for lack of financial help (the Facebook post was in Greek but I had seen a translation). When I mentioned it to my GP in November he thought it was a ...

I guess I'm the only one who likes it without the wall...
You get a much more open view out over the sea without the wall, from a visual point of view it works very well and there aren't many rough days a year at all.

Re: Blood results
As an aside: Interesting as I have just checked all the sections of my Beneficiary Record and it only shows me what has happened since 4 December 2019 which is of great concern because I had numerous tests done June - October 2019 and there are no records of visits, tests, prescriptions etc. Just h...
