Re: Jet 2
Don't get sucked in, with the airlines cheap flight offers, they know flights that they are advertising, have no hope of taking off the ground, but they need your cash to keep their airlines afloat.

Re: Islandwide taxi strike planned for Tuesday
To be eligible for lockdown compensation as a self employed person, you have to prove what your income was for the same period last year. This is probably the problem with the taxi drivers. I am so glad if this is the case. they refuse to use meters and charge what they like, with no record on the ...

Re: Islandwide taxi strike planned for Tuesday
I am unsure what the qualification are/were in Cyprus for small businesses receiving Government Covid-19 grants, however, in the UK our scheme for small businesses was super simple and payed out very quickly twice for the last 6 months and we have a smaller dollop coming at the end of this month fo...

Re: Scottish teen seeking justice after reporting she was raped in Protaras last year
I have always found that the Cypriot Police speak very good English and are very polite. Alan They are a reflection of the society they represent, you get polite ones, grumpy ones, well spoken ones, rude ones, the only thing ive learned in all the years ive been here is, if you are polite to them t...

Re: Coronavirus: masks to be worn outside, curfew in Paphos and Limassol
Just watched a video of two plain clothes coppers dishing out a ticket to two ladies in a café in Limassol , the owner was going ape **** claiming as there were no customer's in the café it didn't count, being that the other lady was her sister... the filth that came out of their mouths was industri...
Re: Election.
[quote="Termites Dream" post_id=125490 time=1603633262 user_id=352] You may have noticed that across the pond there is an election. The two candidates are named Biden and Trump, you may have heard of them. For a bit of fun, with bragging rights as a prize, I wondered if anybody would...

Re: Islandwide taxi strike planned for Tuesday
The lady that I'm referring to, is British, pays into the social fund and runs her own hairdressing business and is legally registered. She has received zilch, she knows of other expats running small businesses here who have also missed out. She has made enquiries, but so far has got nowhere. She i...

Re: Islandwide taxi strike planned for Tuesday
They can be a nuisance, though why they always want to get preferential treatment May be considered to be unreasonable. Many self emplyed people who own small businesses were not given any monetary help in the first lockdown. Another lockdown now could finish them if they are forced to close. Dee N...

Why don't you tell them, that you will not be shopping there again, until they wear their masks properly?

Masks
This popped up on my facebook today, makes sense to me, RETIRED SURGEON Sam Laucks, has this to say about wearing masks: “OK, here’s my rant about masks: I have spent the past 39 years working in the field of surgery. For a significant part of that time, I have worn a mask. I have worked with hundre...

Re: Islandwide taxi strike planned for Tuesday
Given that restaurants and hotels are not being compensated for loss of earnings brought about by Covid, I fail to see why taxi drivers should; even though it is evident they regard themselves as an elite profession which should not be subject to the same pressures as any other business. I dont kno...

Re: Coronavirus: masks to be worn outside, curfew in Paphos and Limassol
Son-in-law stepped out of our shop the other day, wearing a mask. As he did so, he was aware of a Police car crawling along at slow speed, scanning. He was sure that if he had not been wearing a mask, he would have been nicked. This must be one of the most ridiculous laws ever, but hey it's the law...

Re: Next stage of GESY?
Why say 'I've heard'??This is how rumours start. Just be patient - the government have done brilliantly in launching GESY - despite the gloom merchants saying it could never be done. Even if it does turn out to be only one check up and clean per year it is better than nothing. 😀😀 Calm down for good...

Re: Next stage of GESY?
Ive heard when they join GESY, the dentist will provide one check up/clean a year, anything else will have to be paid for.
