Re: Sunny Cyprus still far behind other EU members with renewable energies.. CMail

Cyprus might do better in this field if EAC were more receptive to new PV installations and made it easier to get the required permit from them. Once installed they make sure that anyone who has done so, has to pay the renewable energy consumers AND producers taxes in addition... plus of course the...

Re: All Saints Chapel at Columbia Beach Resort

I may be in the minority here, but when we went inside this chapel were were struck by the to our minds garish colours. Personally I much prefer the frescoes in the lovely medaeval churches in the Troodos Mtn’s. Dee As you prefer the frescoes in medieval churches, perhaps you like the ones in the l...

Sunny Cyprus still far behind other EU members with renewable energies.. CMail

Cyprus has still a long way to meet the EU targets for 2020 to produce electricity from renewable energies, with figures showing that only 8.6% consumed electricity came from RES. Only 3 other countries have poorer results. With prices for solar panels much lower than 10 years ago (50%), it is more ...

If you want to visit the church you must first try to get the key from the priest's daughter. Her house is just opposite the new large church in the middle of the village. (old building with courtyard in front!)

One can see that you are working in the oil industry Andreas..    Anyhow thanks for the information, looks interesting to me as I like my chips, but ...

Spin it as much as you like Hudswell, this topic has nothing to do with reunification.

This topic has very much to do with reunification Lloyd, Perhaps you read my earlier post on here...

Re: Bee eaters staying longer this year?

Is it my imagination or have these lovely birds spent longer on their Cyprus break this year? We have had them flying around for over two weeks now, not that I'm complaining but it seems in previous years they only graced us for a few days. It is the same like last year when they disappeared end of...

Re: The teaching profession is being derailed

What is worse in my opinion than what was mentioned in the article: there are many teacher (male and female) at Cyprus state schools telling pupils, as little as 6 years old, that everything bad comes from Turkey. It can be weather, food, diseases and much more. When the young generation is told at ...

I must say I am quite embarrassed having already posted so many times in that period. I am planning to reduce unnecessary or trivial posts, even when I am sometimes itching to answer back funny comments from members. Re: Do you know Cyprus? Villages (#14)

You are both right Louise and Andreas: it is actually Ha Potami (except the large villa) which one can see on the right hand side. Secret Valley and Ha Potami belong to Kouklia as does the location Aphrodite Hills. I tried to locate HIC's villa but the photo is too blurred. :) :)
