Re: Haggis

Article in the Sunday Mail today detailing all the goodies which go into Haggis. Have never tried Haggis...and after what I read today, won't be trying anytime soon. For the unitiated, it's: sheeps liver, lungs and heart, minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices and salt, all encased in the animal's...

Re: Reservoir storage

Forget not Dee the abundance of boreholes. The whole of Aphrodite Hills, Secret Valley and the village of Kouklia is supplied by one or more boreholes. I am aware that these are also dependant on rainfall to be replenished; but in the last drought when many areas suffered cuts, our water supply was ...

Re: Drink Driving .

Reports that speed cameras are rolling out 'this year' have been heard every year for the past 5 years  Aside from CG's valid point about drivers viewing their speedos rather than the road ahead, the location of fixed cameras soon becomes known and drivers slow down accordingly, then increase s...

Re: Donald Trump Inaugeration

Whatever tariffs are, or are not, subsequently set in place, there is no way that America will provide the same marketplace which continental Europe currently provides. Europe is right on the UK's doorstep and the cost of shipping between the UK and Europe is nominal, as anyone who has bought from A...

Re: Reservoir storage

It seems to be a characteristic of some people, much evident on Cyprus forums, that they always like to have something to worry about. If it's not the level of the dams months before the winter is over, it's airport security, military jet training sorties, the threat of reprisals following RAF sorti...

Re: Reservoir storage

In my opinion we had our Winter rain already and it is looking that there is not too much more to come ....Max How on earth can you claim that? If weather forecasters struggle to see more than a week ahead, how come you can claim to know what's coming in February, March and April? Powerful binocula...

Re: Donald Trump Inaugeration

Wallace, the sentiment expressed on News at 10 tonight from Libby Wiener outside No.10 was that Trump's speech did not suggest a closer do-operation with the UK. It was pointed out that the UK imports far more from the USA than we export. It is clear from Trump's speech that his new administration i...

Happened to to notice some baby figs in someone's garden the other day. Couldn't believe it, we've only just hard-cropped ours.

Re: Reservoir storage

Stop fretting! February and March can be the wettest months of the year, as can be seen from the table below. In just 4 months we've already had more rain than in the whole of some previous years. Aside from which, the desalination plants can cover most of Cyprus' needs if required. http://i63.tinyp...

It never ceases to amaze me how negative people are about Cyprus/Cypriots yet choose to live there.

Re: Brexit Plans are now being disclosed

Meanwhile, back to Theresa May's big reveal yesterday. One attendee scribbled in the notes he was making at the time "Daily Mail fodder", which I think aptly sums it up. So, that was Theresa May's wish list. We all have those...and they often don't materialise as we think/hope they will. Will be int...

Re: Brexit Plans are now being disclosed

I have no idea what this obsession with Sterling is - stock market is booming What a strange observation! A weak currency affects many things, not least the cost of importing goods including oil and raw materials. And whilst you claim "low inflation - bordering on non-existant" that clearly won't b...
