Re: Cost of Brexit: The impact on business and the economy so far

I was under the impression that the UK economy was now booming, more so than that of the EU. Perhaps HIC would elucidate. You need to keep up Varky. Have you not been reading the papers over the last week? Not that the mainstream (pro-Brexit) media would have reported the change for the worse in th...

Re: Should 16yr olds have the vote?

Just yesterday wife and I were looking at photos of us taken 50 years ago and I observed that in almost every aspect we are completely different people to what we were then, though I guess our spirits/souls - the essence of who we are - are just the same. We then looked at pics of where we were 15 y...

Article commissioned by a holiday property rental company so what else would/could it say?!!

Don't shoot the messenger; they didn't write the article, a worldwide expat community did; 14,000 respondents in 195 countries. Seems a pretty fair sample to me. Costa Rica came first.

Cyprus has the 2nd best climate in the World...

We all knew it anyway, but Cyprus's climate is darned near perfect. The following article appears on the Imagine Villa Rental website (with which I have no connection). Some American spellings and terminology in the article. It's Official: Cyprus Has The 2nd Best Climate in The World! 07 April 2017 ...

Re: German investors redistribute resources following Brexit

If negotiations are not as succesful as we would hope then I believe the blame can be laid firmly at the remainers door for not showing the EU a united front. Oh, I get it! So when this grand illusory plan to make Britain 'GREAT' again...and prevent those nasty European workers from darkening our s...

Remember that tin of freeze dried coffee I brought around to your office? I did use that make for some time, but in the end, back to that grinder, I did not like Pods and I tried most makes that fitted my machine. After your kind gesture of the Millicano Jim, I used it for many years afterwards; bu...

Worth remembering that it is a big no-no to feed hedgehogs with milk. Apparently it's really bad for them, like chocolate is to dogs.

Re: New Pictures! Crystals from the Konia Area.

The Geode below is a decorative piece we have about the house. Not from Cyprus; seem to remember I bought it on Ebay. The descriptive plaque which accompanies it says that a Geode is a lump of rock containing a cavity, which is formed by a gas bubble inside molten volcanic lava. The minerals on the ...

Re: German investors redistribute resources following Brexit

Hark the rustling of parched newsprint as dear old Allan scours through the week's papers searching for positive news about Brexit. Nope, nothing in that one, let's try another. No, nothing there either. Strange! Let's try the Express, they've always been avid supporters of Brexit. Weird! No 'good n...

Still proud of this persons style, wit.........Lloyd?? Strikes me that OhSusana can take on this pack of baying hounds and slay them all while bindfolded and with one arm tied behind her back; then have them for breakfast. They say there's none so blind as them that don't want to see...and it...

Yes Louise, I remember you once kindly brought some Nespresso back from Holland for me, where they are cheaper. For convenience I now buy from the Nespresso store in Limassol. They won't discount, but I always manage to wangle a few freebies from them to compensate. Last July we went into the Nespre...

Re: State proposing tougher traffic offence penalties

So it's OK to smoke a cigarette or eat an apple while driving, but not OK to use a hands-free? On a jorney to Nicosia or Protaras I might (on a busy day) take ten hands-free calls. Am I to pull in to the side of the highway to take each call? How do Police or ambulance drivers cope when they have ca...

Re: State proposing tougher traffic offence penalties

What if you are only listening? It should have said "as will being caught using your mobile phone while driving" The article is just journo-speak. The law will - if the legistation is passed - define precisely what constitues an offence. It will also need to say whether hands-free is permissable, a...

While Jacobs freeze-dried Eklektos does me during the day, my special coffee moment after the evening meal is a double Ristretto made with a Nespresso machine. The pods made by Lidl for Nespresso machines don't come close.

Translation: "All the anti-Brexit media I read and watch are 'quality publications' and their output must be trusted implicitly as 'authoritative truth'... Actually Mark, you're wrong, quite wrong. Most UK Tory (right-wing) media from the Telegraph to the Mail/Express is staunchly pro-Brexit and pr...

Don't know about the 50% + 50%. I'm only aware of the single 50% discount being available, plus a further 10% with a bit of skilful side-stepping. Others may know more though.
