Re: Geroskipou Beach facelift nearly there

IMG_20190604_112837.jpg Disappointing the kiosks are still not open. I was told another five weeks. However, lots of new sunbeds on the beach. Most locals take their own down. However, still lots of room for your own. IMG_20190604_112850.jpg Looking towards Riccos. A JCB was clearing some of the ro...

Re: Geroskipou Beach facelift nearly there

Rosemary dropped me off at the far end of the beach whilst she took our visitors to Jumbos, so I walked the full length of the beach. First observation, at the far end, nearest the airport, the farmer has blocked off the path with no entry signs, so you would have to walk across the stoney beach to ...

Re: Mayor of Paphos locks horns with Unesco over new Paphos jetty

When we had visitors a few weeks ago we visited Kurium, the Mosaics and Paleopahos at Kouklia. We had not been for some time and our visitors were very impressed. Certainly as impressive as many sites in Greece, and a great deal more has been uncovered at all of these sites since we last visited, ab...

Todays Walk

Went out this morning and yesterday at 10:30am for my walk. A little late as last year I was out by 7am at the latest. Started at the Phaethon Beach Hotel as usual and walked to the harbour and back. Met two wise creatures on my walk, one sat on a bench by Geroskipou Beach and the other a little fur...

Re: Geroskipou Mini Golf

We have been every year since we first came here on holiday in 2002. Our daughter is 26 and still loves it. In fact, in quite a few cities in the UK there are indoor crazy golf courses and it is fashionable for teens, students and young people etc to go there.

Re: They are doing it again.

You could smell it from the airport road. The guy from the watersport centre reckons there must be around 75 to 100 trucks full of seaweed on the beach. Worse this year then last. Tourists think the smell is sewerage which could put some people off coming here again. I would not like to be staying a...

Re: Thunderstorm this morning...

I went out this morning at 11pm for my walk. Could not believe the car thermometer, 16c. Got down to the coast and it was really windy. Managed to keep warm by walking quickly. Very clear and could see the top of Mount Olympus from the coast. Looked as if it had a fresh snowfall on it.

Re: A great collection of old photos

Thanks Devil. Enjoyed watching your very informative video, and Max, for posting your two photos. I used to work in Rochdale and our school was close to Turner Brothers Asbestos works. Many people in the area, some who did not even work at the factory, died from asbestosis. Local mp at the time, Squ...

Re: More rainy days... but I am quite sure you missed that..

Went out this morning for my walk, as the forecast for this afternoon was for rain. Walked from Geroskipou Beach to Sodap Beach and back. Set off without my jumper, but with a strong wind blowing off the sea, went back to the car to put it on. Wore it for most of the walk. Temperature only 17c on ca...

Re: protesters block motorway at pissouri

Having been in the situation of nearly losing our home here I have every sympathy with the protesters. The government must do something quickly to help these people, and others who have lost, or are in danger of losing their homes. Insurance will not pay out, the developers have long since gone and ...

Re: EasyJet flights available

You cannot add an extra case to a return journey or to a multiple booking. It adds the case to all the bookings. If it is just a return journey you have booked, add the extra case after you have made the outgoing journey. Then it will charge you for just one case, not the two. If you have made multi...

When I first saw this thread on the index I thought it must be about the tensions between home owners who regularly go back to the UK, like ourselves, and permanent residents.

Re: Petition to revoke Article 50 ...

No, petitions are not useless. We used a petition signed by just 1000 people to help us in our case against a bank. It helped. This current petition must be the fastest growing one ever in the UK. Along with the People's March at the weekend, it will help show the government the strength of feeling ...

Re: WARNING - SNAKES!

When we first came to Cyprus and stayed at the Imperial Hotel. the field next to the hotel, where Stavros's kiosk is now, was covered in long grass. We were told by the rep not to walk through it because of snakes and to keep to the track next to the coast. The second year we stayed there, the field...

Re: WARNING - SNAKES!

Basically a hang out for snakes, usually a pile of shrubbery, leaves etc!! It can also be used to describe 'a group of iniquitous people, congregating together'   ! Such as a developer and his staff. Ours certainly was  Seriously, like Maggie, I have a fear of snakes. When I wa...

Thanks for that. Looks really good. I enjoyed the last exhibition there which finished in November. I feel very strongly that there has got to be some legacy from the capital of culture year and this exhibition will help fulfill it.
