Re: Potential traffic disruption today Chlorakas

A crane definitely will be needed. It's a full-size bin lorry on it's side. Not sure how it got where it is as it's just off the road facing the wrong direction.

Re: A Place in the Sun

In my opinion A Place In The Sun is responsible for a considerable amount of misery, due to people rushing off to buy their place in the sun with an unrealistic view of buying and living abroad.

Re: Dogs and The Paphos Mall

The Paphos Mall closed some years ago and is currently up for sale. I suspect you mean King's Avenue Mall. Other than assistance dogs, I don't see any reason why you would take a dog into the Mall and suspect you would be asked to leave by security if you did. Quite right too in my view. In answer t...

Re: Cyta 1018 service

It is inevetable that this would happen. The 1018 service routed calls over the internet rather then the telephone network, and was cheaper. However, CYTA is converting all landlines from telephony to VOIP (the internet). If they continued the cheaper internet calls they would lose a considerable am...

Advances in medicine. Otherwise I, and probably most of you, wouldn't be here.

On a less serious note, one of the things invented 4 months after I was born was Mad magazine. Alfred E. Neuman had yet to make an appearance.

Re: GESY ENROLLMENT

Why persist in trying one line when it clearly wouldn't work. Take the advise given by a number of posters and sort it direct with your preferred doctor. I is so simple. As i understand it, people still have to go on line and register, whether they get on a doctor's list using the online route or g...

Re: GESY ENROLLMENT

I've had a go at registering. It all went well until I had to supply a password in the beneficiaries bit. It says it wants latin characters but wont accept any entry from my desktop or mobile (which use a latin keyboard) as it says they are not latin characters. Has anyone else had this? How do I ge...

Re: GESY ENROLLMENT

..I think tomorrow we will call the UK and have a copy of our S1 re sent again....it's a shame that the medical card that they issue you with isn't enough....and I guess at some point we will call the GESY office to see what they say....it is all a bit of a muddle..... Yes it is. I have called the ...

Re: Hotel proprietor threatens to jump off roof

If they decided to take back the property, then he shouldn't have had it in the first place. TC properties should only be occupied by GC refugees from the north until a solution to the Cyprus problem is found. In the past TC properties have been rented to ineligible people due to a level of corrupti...

Re: Police chief: an unprecedented form of crime for Cyprus (Update 1)

Grim indeed. The women were both Philippinas and there are another 5 or 6 Philippinas missing. Not to mention a number of Sri Lankans and Vietnamese. I'll leave you to ruminate on why there has not been an outcry before. However, there was a vigil held in Nicosia yesterday (Sunday) attended by a ver...

Actually, the UK isn't a democracy. It's a constitutional monarchy. If you want to check, just google for a list of countries that are not democracies. Just saying.

I refer those of you who believe the UK is run by elected MPs to the scripts of "Yes Minister" and "Yes Prime Minister".

As an aside, this came to mind:

Thanks lots Loubychew. Much appreciated.

I only have one question. You mention doing it through the Town hall. Given I live in a village that is not within a Municipality, where would I go?

Naturalisation in Cyprus

According to the Cyprus mail, over 800 British ex-pats have applied for naturalisation in Cyprus (aka getting a Cypriot passport). Are any of the forum members one of the 800? I am applying for naturalisation later this year, and it would be useful if anyone who has already done this could share tha...

If you can move your gaze away from the protesters, have a look at the swathe of empty seats on the government side during a Brexit debate. In my book that is far more offensive than a few naked breasts.

Re: May Looking At Fourth Vote

I think we can see where all this Brexit nonsense is going. Nothing will ever be agreed so the UK will leave with a "no deal" on the 12th, and we can all watch UK business slide down the toilet while Boris gleefully occupies number 10.
