Re: I think this will put the cat amongst the pigeons

Reports on Friday said that despite the humiliation from the resignation, Syllouris, 67, would be getting a golden handshake in the region of €100,000 on top of the around €160,000 he received for his term as MP. Moreover, the former House president will get to keep the service limo – whose expenses...

Re: I think this will put the cat amongst the pigeons

There is never smoke without fire House president Demetris Syllouris has now resigned, as has MP Christakis Giovanis The scheme has been now closed and under investigation I would imagine the EU have reacted quickly and forced this In the video, it wa mentioned other countries ( Malta/Latvia ) were ...

Re: Cashback at the Supermarket

I would have thought that it was a no brainer to offer cash back to customers a) It replaces a service that the Banks are failing to provide with branch closures b) Cashing up at the end of the day is quicker with less cash to count and reconcile c) Less need/risk for the staff/security personnel fo...

Re: Outrage over mass shooting of birds

The should, if caught, be sent to prison for 12 months for the first offence and keep doubling the sentence for subsequent offences by the same person They should get extra police with 4*4s and devises to listen for gunfire drafted in when it is "hunting/season" patrolling the known hunting areas Th...

If you are looking @ Protaras I can wholeheartedly recommend, having stayed in both a) Tsokkos Beach if you want to eat in the hotel b) Gold Star Aprtments for self catering These are next to each other ( owned by Tsokkos Group ) in a small quiet road leading to the beach The beach is 1 to 2 minutes...

Re: Cyprus’ first retirement village planned in Paphos

It talks about buyers having a 99 year lease but it doesn't say how much the ground rent will be or how often will there be scheduled ground rent reviews to a level at whatever the freeholder thinks is appropriate. \ It doesn't really matter to normal ( not über-rich ) people as "a friend of a frie...

Re: Coronavirus: Cases should drop to previous low levels "in two to three weeks"

Without preaching doom and gloom I am not holding my breath on the "in two to three weeks" reductions in the R number to previous low levels ( <1 ? )

Only time will tell

1.6 and 2.0 is a worrying number especially with the current influx of tourists added to the mix

Another side effect of Covid-19

I read a few weeks ago that due to the reduced level of pollution/smog emissions due to lockdowns and reduced activity etc it would in effect made earth temperatures rise as more direct sunlight is reaching the earth It seems to be showing signs of this in Cyprus where the temperature for July was a...

Re: MPs urged to reject bird hunting bill

You would have thought that following the current pandemic crisis that emanated and jumped from wild animals to humans it would have given the government sufficient cause and opportunity, in addition to the pressure from the EU, to completely ban 100% this sick, archaic, barbaric tradition
