Re: Banks getting greedy - governments says it will act
I have read about the charges but no mention of direct debits. I have messaged the bank about this but obviously won't hear back till next week earliest. Wondered if anyone knew already. I don't live here and have all my bills paid this way so will be very inconvenient if I have to start paying them...

Re: Flight delay compensation
Dominic, sorry I used the wrong word. I should have used "claim" not "sue". But I still think that making a a claim for something that is not the airlines fault and will probably be dismissed is waste on the airlines time and resources. We will all pay in the end.

Re: Flight delay compensation
Why would you sue for something that was not the airlines fault. The airline will recoup it's losses eventually by putting up the ticket price. We have been delayed twice by four hours on EJ from Gatwick. Once someone was taken ill just before landing and we diverted to Ankara then Athens as we coul...

Mediterranean with Simon Reeve.
I have just watched episode two of this programme as it started in Cyprus. I found it interesting. He went from Cyprus to Lebanon then Israel and into the Gaza strip. Sunday 15th July on BBC 2 at 5.30 pm UK time.
Episode one is Malta to Albania

Re: Internet Bank transfers
I don't know about transfers between Cyprus banks but I use internet banking back in the UK. To set up a money transfer all you need to input is the person's name, sort code and account number. If it is a new payee then your bank will text you a code number that you also have to put on the page to c...

Re: Cyprus versus Mauritius...
I agree about the thieving Max but we were well warned and never experienced any theft. All the complexes and hotels have security at the gates. We rented a house and the owners were Mauritius who lived in London near us and we became a friends. They warned us not to leave any washing out overnight....

Meant to add I think we may have been to that waterfall. On the west side? We climbed down to it and swam in the pools below.

Re: Cyprus versus Mauritius...
Absolutely love Mauritius Max. We have been there about six times. Rented a house and stayed up to nine weeks at a time so really got around. Lovely people, food, country side. They drive on the "right" side of the road. And the Indian Ocean as well. What's not to like . Except the nearly ...

Re: Lidl Silvercrest Air Fryer
HIC, I subscribe to Which and this Lidl fryer does not feature in its top ten buys. But four Tefal actifry models do all in the 70% + score. I don't know if it is the same model but it was reviewed in December, black and £49.99. The review didn't dismiss it. It said it cooks chips well but the fish ...

I have been having trouble for a while and have installed Wunderground although it is a bit too "fussy" for me. I just like the plain facts.

Re: Brrrrrr!
I agree with your remarks above if only I had a lovely well insulated house. That's the problem. I am usually in Paphos for 10 weeks returning to the UK before Christmas and I find myself longing for my comfortable, centrally heated house! Even though I know I won't be sitting out in the midday sun ...

Just seen the temperature in Paphos at 10.30 pm for you. 8 degrees! I am in Christchurch, Dorset and it is also 8 degrees!!! Not sorry we returned a couple of weeks ago. This has been a very wet and now cold winter for Cyprus so far I think. Hope it passed soon.

Re: May to delay Brexit vote?
Reesy what the people who voted leave wanted was to leave. Just that. I didn't expect the negotiations to be a walk in the park and there is absolutely no doubt that they have been handled abysmally. But only to be expected when a Remainer was put in charge. But the way the EU have behaved in these n...

I don't know if this vaccine is available her but it might be worth finding out. This vaccine is being given to over 65's in the UK. "The newly available ‘adjuvanted’ vaccine is expected to significantly boost effectiveness by improving the body’s immune response to the vaccine. This is importa...
