Re: Fixed airport taxi fares from March 1
They do that at Luton Airport too. I'm sure it could work here, providing the taxi drivers are in agreement.

Re: Pounds on its way down
Thanks for being the voice of reason Dominic. Why are people so negative and take such pleasure in bad news? The pound has been volatile for a few months and probably will be in future - it is not the end of the world.

Re: Right To Remain After Transition
If a UK national has never registered, does not have a passport, has no intention of leaving Cyprus and uses a UK address for banking and driver's licences, etc how do the Cypriot authorities find them?? Just asking - this does not apply to me but I think there may be quite a few.

Re: Over 70s driving licence renewal extra documents required
I'm not on utility bills or married to my partner, but we went to the Mukhtar in Peyia who signed a form to confirm we lived together. He needed to see both passports and our rental agreement. This form was accepted by the Citizens office. I agree an MEU3 should have been acceptable without the util...

Re: Over 70s driving licence renewal extra documents required
Renewed my drivers licence this morning at the Citizens Centre as I am about to hit the big 70 (in my head I'm still 18!!). I can confirm that you do need to make an appointment, the medical form can be downloaded from the Cyprus Transport website and yes, they did ask to see utility bills for the p...

Re: Appointment for MEU 3
The number we have is also 26806200. I suggest you go in to make an appointment, remembering to take your passport and MEU1. We have always found them helpful. You may not get an appoint till early next year but you should be able to travel with your passport and MEU1 or MEU3. We always carry these ...

Re: PRP therapy for hip joint
Hi Sadie, sadly no. The price of the Stem Cell was 1,500 euros or 2,000 for both knees. PRP was about 600 euros but would need to be done every year or two. PRP may be available under GESY, but I really don't know.
Good Luck

Re: PRP therapy for hip joint
I have a friend who had it on her knee and she is pleased with the result. Have you thought about having stem cell treatment instead? This is more expensive than PRP but should only need to be done once, whereas PRP will have to be repeated. My partner had it done on his knee at the Blue Cross. Anot...

Re: Next stage of GESY?
Why say 'I've heard'??This is how rumours start.
Just be patient - the government have done brilliantly in launching GESY - despite the gloom merchants saying it could never be done. Even if it does turn out to be only one check up and clean per year it is better than nothing.

Re: Tax for Gesy.
But you only get the letter if you have an S1 - which you can get when you receive your state pension. So anyone younger than pensionable age has to pay GESY contributions on their total income. Either they pay for GESY, take out private health insurance or both. Yes it is a difficult situation for ...

If you are retired and in receipt of a state pension you can join GESY. I really don't need to know why you haven't got an MEU3 - your business and nobody else's!!

Re: UK banks to close many ex-pats accounts after Brexit.
Barclays did this a few years ago, but allowed customers with a large amount of money to keep their accounts. Santander is a Spanish owned bank, so surely you will still be able to use them. They have branches in Brazil, so not being in the EU should not be a problem, let's just wait and see. Always...

Re: Rhuematologist recommendation
Hi Mike, I too was not impressed with that rheumatologist - stunk of cigarettes and not pleasant at all. I have since been referred to Dr Angelika Nitre - her office is near the Blue Cross hospital and at the back of the old large Alpha Mega. She has been very thorough, sent me for lots of blood tes...

Re: Maximum co payment
I haven't "racked up" 150 euros, I happen to have several chronic conditions that require daily medication and regular blood tests. Gesy has been a godsend to me, I used to spend over 50euros a month on medication and about 200euros every six months for blood tests. Unfortunately these wer...
