Re: Chicken in short supply in UK⦠along with other goods..
Firefly, I'm not certain if you live in the UK or Cyprus. I do wonder if these headlines are media created. Yes, maybe Nando's are running short of chicken, is it the end of the world?? When I left the UK there wasn't Nando's in my local town so I have never tried it, but I am sure people will not s...

Re: Post Brexit, British permanent residents in Cyprus cannot vote, stand in local elections
I accept that - I can only say that of the British people I know, I am in the minority. Most of them were not interested in voting anywhere!!!

Re: Post Brexit, British permanent residents in Cyprus cannot vote, stand in local elections
Exactly how many people will really be affected by this? I did vote in local elections, and voted in UK general elections too, but I was definitely in the minority. As for standing for election - not many British people would have had the desire to do this. Bit of a non-news story - but let's blame ...

Re: How stupid can Brits be?
Why are they stupid? The may need a holiday after a very stressful year. It is not only Brits, we have just returned from Romania (Maybe I am a stupid Brit too!). The airport was jam packed with people going on holiday ( a planeful coming here). If you have been vaccinated and tested you have done t...

Re: Gesy .. Annual co-payment 150 euros
I have a lot of conditions requiring medical treatment of some sort. I reached β¬150 last June and then did not pay for anything. I am almost there this year. If you are charged query it.

Re: Gesy and Physiotherapy
Hi - I don't know about the physio I'm afraid, but can advise that once you have reached your co-payment of β¬150 you do not have to pay any more for anything, including specialist visits and prescriptions. I reached my limit last year and am up to about β¬120 this year.

Whole grain from Phillipos bakery - best bread ever, and clearly I am not alone in thinking this - it sells out very quickly.

Re: probate etc in Cyprus.
When my husband died 12 years ago we still had property in the UK and UK wills as well as our Cypriot property and wills. I had to go through probate in both the UK and Cyprus, totally separate. My Cypriot lawyer had no involvement in the UK probate whatsoever.
Hope this helps.

I had no idea of the tax situation in Cyprus when we came, and it would not have influenced us - we came because we loved the country - and I still do.

Re: probate etc in Cyprus.
Having been through probate here in Cyprus, I can confirm the advice given. Never use your solicitor as an executor, have a matching will, with each of you nominated as each others executor. You will also need a second executor, if you have no relatives, chose a friend, preferably one who lives in C...

Re: YELLOW SLIP - DIP IN UK AND BACK
Whilst you will be able to get out of Cyprus I can't imagine too many European countries would allow you to drive through them with a van full of stuff. Most of Europe are in some sort of lockdown with closed borders. Also, how do you propose getting to Cyprus, you will not be allowed to come in via...

Re: Renewal of a Cyprus driving licence New Rules
Happy in Cyprus, I am not married to my partner and no utility bills are in my name. I recently renewed my driving licence and had to get a form from the Mukhtar certifying who I was together with a year's worth of copies of the water bills. No problem at the Citizens Office and I collected my new l...

Re: What is going on with these age related Covid vaccines?
I have to agree with HIC - my age group came up yesterday, after logging in to GESY the site crashed a couple of times, but perseverance pays off - got through to the booking section, had a choice of multiple dates and got my jab this afternoon at Paleo Electrico. However, after securing an appointm...

Watched it on Thursday - Tom Hanks doesn't make bad films. An old fashioned Western with an uplifting ending.

I too would recommend George Vorkas - modern building, up to date equipment and very clean. I think an ultrasound was about β¬20 under GESY.
