Re: The Necropolis in the Neopolis

If anybody is interested in the age of the Necropolis: here a Google translation from the Yeroskipou Municipality's website Necropolis at the site of "Katarameni" "Complex of carved and excavated tombs of the Hellenistic (325-30 BC) or Roman era (30 BC-6 BC) in southwestern Geroskipou. In Christian ...

Re: I was waiting 7 years to photograph that...

It surprised me too, especially as she is often out photographing stuff. I see and hear them every year, but they had somehow eluded her up until now. No wonder, as soon as you come closer than ca 30 m, they spot you and are gone from the area...that's why close-up pics in good quality is something...

Re: A long read about the motorway

It looks like that they have already started the project as from today there is a caterpillar working on a hill where the future motorway will cross the Konia to Episkopi road. Further there is on page 13 of the new Gov information site about all projects in Cyprus a starting date of Feb 2020 to fin...

Well, recently some of us posted some photos from the nice colourful and noisy bee-eaters, which are on the way to go back to their winter habitat. However, today I want to share with you some of the many photos I was able to produce yesterday late afternoon when I heard a lot of noise and splosh ou...

Re: Not many wasps around for bee-eaters....

I haven't seen any bee-eaters yet, I'm looking forward to that. I wonder if there are bee-eaters now in your area. They appear every morning and afternoon where I live, but stay only minutes as there are no insects to catch, but it looks like that they are already on the way leaving Cyprus for the ...

Re: A long read about the motorway

Thank you Dominic for the excellent link. Specially all the maps from page 480-553 are very interesting. The area where one can find lovely crystals will also be affected if they built the motorway, which looks like will happen soon... https://up.picr.de/36778665zr.jpg and towards North... https://u...

Good! Excellent product. I'll also stock up on the potato croquettes, light and good. 3-4 mins in a deep fryer at low temp (160°C is good).

Well, it is the time of year again when the first thunderstorms appear, so I thought I will try to get some decent photos from the morning mood today: First the full moon got my attention https://up.picr.de/36758311fs.jpg but seconds later a large cloud appears from the side https://up.picr.de/36758...

That is it Louise. The second village on the left hand side is Choulou ("Hulu"). Honestly, it took me quite a while to work it out myself.

As there is no correct answer yet, another hint: in one of the 2 villages is a quality winery which produces also organic Xynisteri.

Re: Heated Pools

OK. It appears that the cost of an AirSouce heat pump and solar cover to heat a pool, is in the region of €5,000 or so. However, does anyone know the running costs to keep a pool with these items, at a decent temperature. Apparently around 28deg is the recommended level. The running costs vary depe...
