Re: GESY AND S1

Already sent our email. This sentence is relevant particularly if you are MEU3 holder and have the S1/E121 Form, as MEU3 holders are in one category that has to pay contributions. ''It is important to apply for this letter to avoid problems with the tax department trying to claim contributions''. Fr...

Appointment with Specialist Doctor at Paphos Hospital

Still under investigation following an unexplained incident about 8 weeks ago I was referred to see an ENT doctor and later a Neurologist. This post is about the various systems for patients actually seeing the doctor. In both cases a date and time of appointment were given. €6 Duly paid at Receptio...

Re: Important info re Meu 1 Meu 3

Currently there is no guarantee of reciprocal state health care after 31st October and as we are fortunate to have MEU3 status, should we be no longer covered by the UK for state health care in Cyprus, at least we will still be eligible to GESY healthcare due to our MEU3 status, albeit we would then...

Worse still is having to make your way through smokers gathered around an entrance to a building - and with the door open, the smoke goes inside too.

Visit to the Neurologist

Just thought I'd let you know that I saw the Neurologist today.

After asking a few questions and tapping my knees and elbows with a miniature hammer, he wants me to have a brain function test (EEG) in Limassol.

No good my brain functioning in Limassol when I live in Paphos!!

Re: A GESY tale ...

I remember reading on FB in May that some patients and a clinic were left in the lurch after one Personal Doctor moved to another area and they were subsequently registered with another PD at the same clinic. However, now the lists are filling up there may not be the choice to sign up with a preferr...

Re: New pub peyia

There was originally a British Legion themed venue in Limnaria Gardens - about 4-5 years ago which proved popular at the time and was in a good location for many to use its facilities. Not just for the RBL but I remember having a lunch and there was a regular group that went there for a few hours ea...

Re: The Kindness of Cypriots

Interestingly on the few occasions when I have been in situations when I needed help (medical attention in a couple of incidents) it was the Cypriots who came and helped while the Expats sat/stood and watched.

Cyprus Government's intentions if Brexit is 'disorderly'

We hope that prudence and rational thinking will prevail and that the new British government and Brussels will reach a consensus, the spokesman (Prodromos Prodromou) noted, adding that even in the undesirable case of a disorderly Brexit, which has been a possibility for some time now, the government...

Re: New pub peyia

There are other charities on the island that also help people who were in the forces and many smaller groups and individuals offer their support. Large organisations don't suit everyone. Such a shame that it is necessary for veterans to have to depend on charity.

Re: Giving a solicitor power of attourny?

Wills and Succession Law On 3rd July 2015 “section 42” was removed from Cyprus’ Wills and Succession Law. This section allowed UK and Commonwealth nationals to use their will to freely dispose of their estate, so you could divide up your property and assets however you wished. Cypriots themselves ha...

Re: Are airlines tracking YOU?

No idea about airlines, but certainly some websites for accommodation do. I read years ago that it was a good idea to clear all cookies at the end of each browsing session (in fact I clear history each time I log out from the browser) and found that works.

Re: New pub peyia

Just over five weeks ago a brand-new themed pub opened in Peyia in support of the Royal British Legion in Paphos. The venue is adorned with memorabilia relating to the British forces and the Royal British Legion (RBL) and the idea is to establish a venture which aims to raise funds for the charity a...

Re: 2019 a difficult year for tourism but no need to panic, Deputy Minister says

Aside from the animal cruelty issue raised by Jeba, recent bad press also has an effect eg the ongoing incident in Ayia Napa (alleged rape), the man who was run down and killed last year, both of which have been reported internationally, and of course not forgetting the numerous thefts from visitors...
